Description:

Got this idea from @jakeandnicksmom This swap is for Pocket letter newbies, who want a chance to try out this new penpal craze, in a safe, judgment free swap. No stress, no worries. For this swap there is no wrong way of doing a Pocket Letter.

International version- since there is a US Version I am not allowing US swappers in this swap

You will have one partner. Basically, you fill up a 9 pocket trading card sleeve with 2.5 X 3.5 scrapbook paper, And, inside the pockets you tuck in little goodies. They might be washi tape samples , ribbon, stickers, buttons, embellishments, tea bag, sequins, etc, The first pocket holds a nice letter from you, about a 1/2 page

This pocket letter has free theme Get creative! you can do it!! You do not have to decorate the back of the pocket, only the front.

Make sure the swap name and your Swapbot name is on there somewhere.

Remember: this swap is for people who are new at pocket letters, so if your picky, this may not be the swap for you

Try to keep things relatively flat, when you fold this letter into thirds, you can mail it in a long envelope. Open to swappers with at least a rating of 4.97, and has at least 5 type 3 swaps. I will be checking profiles carefully. If you have recent or unexplained 1's or 3's please Pm me.

Send your swap on time, and don't forget to rate your partner. Think of your rating as a thank you note, its very nice to thank the person who took time to create something for you. Rate a 5 if it was sent on time ,even if you didn't like it. If you don't receive your swap please let me and your partner know before rating a 1 or 3.

I have had interest in a series of pocket letter newbie swaps , so Im setting up a monthly swap for at least through September: Here are the themes

  • August-Black and White

  • September- Fall leaves/ Back to school

So join one or join all, If anyone has ideas for future pocket letters or themes, I'm open to suggestions. There is lots of Youtube videos and Pintrest boards out there if you need ideas.

This is a interntational swap only, since there is a US one out there I wount allow US swappers

Happy Swapping

I wonder how the Americans will like being excluded from a swap. tee hee. Well, I know that I am tired of all the 'US ONLY' swaps on here, so I love this one!

Bearynice 06/29/2015 #

I have clicked on 3 swaps tonight and each one has been for US only , our swaps don't go on the main list

Esthercita79 07/ 1/2015 #

I'm not a complete newbie, but the truth indeed is that there are much more regional/US swaps than international ones so I sign up for all international ones :)

susiescottsdale 07/10/2015 #

Im open to swapping internationally, in fact i prefer it..its more interesting stuff!

Roseg 07/11/2015 #

@Lizard There are a lot of USA only swaps purely based on the fact that not everyone can afford international shipping costs. When it costs nearly $20 to sent items valuing less than $10 it's an expense some people would rather avoid. Many people would rather spend that extra money participating in several other swaps that peak their interest. International swaps are fun and I agree the items received in those swaps are interesting because most of the time in the US we don't have certain items available. Members in the USA would generally enjoy being able to participate in international swaps, a lot of us wish we were able to afford the shipping costs. It has nothing to do with not wanting to swap with international members. Your comment "I wonder how the Americans will like being excluded from a swap. tee hee."- As it has been stated there are plenty of USA swaps we can join. All it takes is a bit of understanding and you would realize the problem is postal costs and shipping expense to other countries.

Artsynerdgirl 07/11/2015 #

I LOVE swapping internationally...... however, my budget doesn't allow for sending much outside the US. It's that simple. Most of my swaps are senders choice too..... because that's easier on me also and I can make them up ahead of time.

I did a package swap and sent $10 worth of stuff and it was $40 to ship! I can't imagine that swappers in other countries don't face similar cost issues when shipping to the US.

My other fear is time! I don't want the lag time to make people think I flaked because the postal system is slow.

Any swap that I host that is USA only, i'd welcome someone else to do an international swap. :) @lizard - anytime you want to do an international version of my swaps, please feel free! You can even leave out americans, because I will have it covered :) and I hate the idea that others can't enjoy something fun because I'm poor. lol

TereDiane1954 07/11/2015 #

@Roseg and Artsynerdgirl ,thank you for your well thought out, polite and mature comments. You both have explained perfectly why some swaps are USA only.

Paige1900 07/11/2015 #

Yes I also want to say thank you to @Roseg & @Artsynerdgirl 99% of Americans would love to be able to swap internationally, sadly times are tough and despite what other countries may think many people are on extremely tight budgets. And the only way some American people are able to swap is to swap where the shipping is affordable.

While 99.9% of all my swaps and RAKS are international, I take absolutely no offense what so ever with U.S. being banned from swaps if that helps others with postage cost. But what I do take offense with is the hateful comment that was made against American's. So very very sad.

TerryF 07/11/2015 #

I think it is perfectly acceptable for this swap host to limit her swap to outside the USA. She clearly states it is because there is already a US version. No one loses.

However, @Lizard is very clearly a LIZARD - what a mean and discriminatory comment to make.

Whippet 07/13/2015 #

I still mourn the loss of USA "Economy International Mail" that was stopped by USPS. How I miss those International package swaps, have had to stop doing them due to my limited income. If $ was no problem for me...I'd be back doing International swaps again.

zoev1975 07/14/2015 #

I am not in the US myself, so I can relate to the disappointment when you see a great sounding swap that you cannot join, however there is no need for the mean, spiteful comment left by @Lizard @miyuiki00 I wish you the very best of luck with this swap.

CajunLady 07/14/2015 #

OMG finally...a swap that I can be excluded from. Thank you so much for pointing that out Lizard.

miyuiki00 07/14/2015 #

I did not mean anything hateful by this swap the same swap is avaliable in the us only swaps. I didnt want to affend anybody and sorry if I did.

CajunLady 07/14/2015 #

miyuiki00, you didn't offend me hun, not at all. It's your swap and you are free to ban whomever you choose. I can only assume, like mine, most of the comments were pointed to @Lizard s comment.

TereDiane1954 07/14/2015 #

@miyuiki00 you said nothing offensive at all. Don't worry about it. Good luck with your swap♥

Paige1900 07/16/2015 #

@miyuiki00 you are a delight. You did absolutely nothing at all offensive. You are more than welcome to join any of my swaps, which are all international. These comments were not towards you at all.

We all wish you much success with this swap. In fact most of us think it's a pretty cool idea. :)

Lizard 09/ 1/2015 #

What a pity that this host does not angel the swaps she hosts. I was under the impression that this is what a swap host does if necessary.

Hey you guys - @zoev1975 @CajunLady @Roseg @Paige1900 and anyone else I offended - I truly didn't mean my comment to come across as spiteful, hatful, horrid, or mean.

Please accept my sincere apology for offending you.

I really did just think it was a bit funny (the giggly kind) because I see so many awesome swaps, but they are mostly all USA only.

I do understand about the postage too. It costs a fortune from here. A naked postcard costs the same as a letter!

Again, sorry for coming across as smallminded and mean spirited.
