Description:

Ok people, it's time to make someone feel special. I don't know about you, but when I make someone feel good, I also feel good in return. It's a win, win situation. Making someone feel special does not require money, so in this challenge, I don't want you to buy a thing. Use what you have or what is inside your beautiful mind.

This swap is inspired by the book, "Guerilla Art Kit" an awesome and inspiring read.

The premise of this swap is that you will make 3 pieces of art. Your call, it may be one of the following:

A Doodle, A Journal entry, An uplifting quote, A random lette,r An ATC, A sticker, A poem, A mini shrine, A "Dotee Doll", A stuffie, A piece of jewelry, A mixed CD, A card or postcard with a nice note, A Photo.

Anything, I am just giving some suggestions, but really, if anything, just write out an inspiring message or even a "Have A beautiful Day" message on a piece of paper.

I want you to make at least 3, but you can make as many as you want. Then I want you to leave your "art" in a random place, for a random stranger to find. I then want you to take a picture of your note or art at the place you left it.

You will have 3 partners. You will write your partner a letter and include pictures of your "Guerilla Random Act of Kindness"

It is your choice to either mail your partner a letter and your pics or you can e-mail a letter w/ pics. Please include your thoughts while you took your pic of your art at the random location. You may even want to tell your partner why you selected the location that you chose.

Come on, lets spread some amor, and please tell a friend.

I am leaving this swap open to all. Newbies and even those with less then stellar ratings too.(Here is a chance to redeem yourself =). Remember, this is all about you. Trust me, even if you don't get anything in return from your partner, (which I hope is not the case) you will sure feel good about your contribution to positiveness in this world we call home.

I do plan on blogging the results of this swap, and encourage you all to email me your stories regarding your "Random Act of Kindess"

Peace,

Yoli

INSPIRED and inspiring!! I love this idea so much that I'm going to send your swap challenge to my daughter's high school art teacher. What a great warm up activity for incoming freshmen. ...an art attack in the school!!

Thank you! Yes, do feel free to tell anyone about this swap. I blogged about this at other websites and have people outside of swapbot participating. =)

Hey, it would be fabulous if folks participating in this swap also signed up at www.found-art.com I know the founder, and this is exactly what she is trying to promote as a movement! She was inspired to develop her website (and spent thousands of $$ out of her own packet to do so) after 9-11 as a way to send a message of hope and peace, one piece of random art at a time.

SacredYoli 09/ 5/2008 #

Thanks purplewhimsy, I will most definitely check out her site!

Drachenfrau 09/ 6/2008 #

I've spread the word on my blogs with your description Yoli. Hope, that's ok. :-)

purplewhimsy 09/ 6/2008 #

I need to post a correction to the website URL. Go here, please, and support the Found Art movement with acts of random art kindness!!!!

http://wwww.foundart.org

The founder, by the way, is a member of Swap-Bot.... ashleyshea. She's a fantastic friend and a wonderful person with a big heart! She has put her heart and soul (and money) into the foundart.org website, and would love you to be a part of it. Free, of course. She does it out of the goodness of her heart.

SacredYoli 09/ 6/2008 #

Feel free to spread the word! This is really about being true to yourself and putting a smile on a random strangers face. You might even want to include a small note with your "gift", letting the "finder" know that thee piece is theirs to keep if they found it. I am going to include a my blog addy, to see if I can get a response. :-)

dangerine 09/ 6/2008 #

Awesome, being new to this, when do we typically get assigned partners in the process?

SacredYoli 09/ 6/2008 #

after the deadline of the swap, you will get a notification via email that the swap has started and you will then get to view your partners. After you send your partners their "swaps" you will hit the send button.

Easy peasy!

marionjoy 09/ 7/2008 #

have to drop this one for now.. too many things happening.. apologies.. maybe sign up if the fog clears.. thanxxxx

Susi 09/ 9/2008 #

I've already made my first drop of art yesterday! Actually I left two, but one was just a note on a sticky on a magazine, and I did not take a picture of it!

SacredYoli 09/ 9/2008 #

OMG, awesome! I think I will make a flickr group later tonight, so for those of you who want to share, can do so.

Thanks and lots of good karma to you!

purplewhimsy 09/16/2008 #

Looks like I posted an error in the correction....ooops!!!

Okay, for the last time, here is the website founded by my dear friend and fellow swap-botter, dedicated just to the movement of leaving art for people to find and cheer them up:

http://www.foundart.org/

sorry for the errors in previous posts.

greenplant 09/28/2008 #

I don't feel that I will be able to give my fullest to this swap so I'm afraid I'm going to leave it. :(

For some reason I got a little "movie" playing in my head of someone in a store with a bunch of daisies and running up to someone else and jabbing a flower at them saying "Hi, here's flower just because..have a nice day" and then running away leaving the confused but happy person standing there.

Emeraldcharm14 10/ 9/2008 #

Hi! I completed two already and I have one more to go.

Stoopie 10/ 9/2008 #

I can't wait to do this!!! Fab idea, Yoli!!! Thanks so much for inviting me to participate. :) xoxo eKo art

SacredYoli 10/ 9/2008 #

hey Chicas, make sure you add your photos to the flickr group. Also, there are already some fab photos, so go check it out. link is posted above on my last comment!

MikluvsMnky 10/16/2008 #

I hope that everyone is going snail mail for this and printing good quality pictures... I can't wait.

dangerine 10/17/2008 #

Wow. I'm having a huge "process" over this challenge. It's making me look at concepts around "location" in a completely different light. I also had to do some thinking about anonymous vs. named art and tacit agreements implied when someone puts their name on something that another finds.

So far, I have five ornaments made, and the drop offs with more photo documentation start tomorrow....I will post the photos after my partners have all rated me, to avoid spoiling the surprise.

Hope no one minds getting photos edited into a document....
