Description:

This is the first reading log swap of 2016 (Happy New Year!) It's pretty simple. Read. Write about what you read. Send your log off to two international partners.

You'll be sending your partners one reading log that contains your thoughts on all the books you read during the months of January, February and March 2016. The log can be in any paper format.

You need to jot down the title, the author and give a minimum of a one paragraph description about each book and your thoughts. Lets focus more on what your thoughts about the book are instead of focusing mainly on the description of the book, or at least treat it to 50/50 description/thoughts.

Feel free to include things like favorite quotes, the author's Web site, etc.

This swap is about what you enjoy reading, not what your partners may or may not like. It doesn't matter what you read: fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, Manga, zines, audio books, e-books, children's, etc.

I recommend keeping a computer file for your log so it will be easy for your partners to read and so you won't lose it, but your log can be created in ANY format you like. It needs to be paper and mailed via post. The format is up to you: journal, letter, zine, tag book, etc.

The details:

a) international (sent via the post, NOT e-mailed)

b) two partners

c) minimum requirements: one book each month; one paragraph per book. Author, title, description/thoughts etc. You are writing about each book you've read this quarter, not just a select few.

Voracious readers read more than a single book a month. So there's no maximum. Your reading log should be sent NO earlier than the 15th of March.

The fine print:

Newbies welcome. Rated players need a 4.95 or higher. If you are under the requirement PM me and I will take it as a case by case. No recent "1" or "3" ratings. All participants must have a completed profile. I ban after the swap closes. As both a swap participant and coordinator, I like people to have positive swap experiences, so please no forum drama.

Changing up the dates for joining a bit this year. Now, there will be a month and a half to sign up from the end of the last quarter. Anyone who had joined but not sent for the previous quarter will be banned from the swap. Anyone who has not logged in for more than 2 weeks will be banned as well. This swap covers 3 months, I don't want people joining at the start of the quarter only to quit swapping mid way through.

Hopefully we won't need to, but I will arrange for angels if they are needed.

As always, would love to private swap with any BIG readers, say more then 40 books for the Quarter. Finished 2015 having read 335 books, looking for others who read a lot as well. :)

@ImzadiRose , As always I am in awe of your reading! I hope you find some other big readers to swap with as well. = )

ImzadiRose 01/10/2016 #

Thanks Cayleigh. I seem to be one of few, if any, here. Thankfully I know a lot of people at GoodReads who read just as much and even more than I do. :D

I would love to do this, BUT through the mail, not internet, can I request for it to be done that way? I am really not that computer savvy to do it online, and I want to make my notebook and notes nicely and decorated.

Can I join only this swap and not the others? I can't be sure about how busy I will be later this year.

ImzadiRose 01/19/2016 #

@CraftyMommaonaBudget ~ it's a Type 2 swap, not Type 1.

@elvenfire ~ of course.

@imzadirose lol I read 136 last year and thought I had done well!!

ImzadiRose 02/ 1/2016 #

@HisDarkMaterials ~ that is very well done! :) I'm just crazy. LOL. I think it's great no matter how many books people are able to read. My Hubby reads daily but got in less than 20 books on the year last year. He just likes to do so much other things, that reading is really only done at bedtime for Him. For me, it's gaming and reading, that's it. So, I read a lot. I just love it when I connect with other big readers. Here at SB I don't think there's many, you HDM are probably on the higher scale for here.

If I can I would like to join later in the year. Things are a bit muddled here with health problems for Mom (95), husband, daughter and grandkids (2) so altho I will be reading (to save my sanity) I can't promise to be able to fulfill the swap. ImzadiRose - awesome amount of books. I only manage a 100 or so - people keep wanting me to feed them, do laundry or talk to them. Sure cuts into good reading time! Hope to join later in the year. :P Excited about this, I was burned on my letter last time I did one of these in 2014...so I'm hoping and trying for a better experience this time! Thank You!!

Crispycritter 02/12/2016 #

I was going to join but some things have come up and I won't have the time to put into the swap. I would like to try for the next quarter tho. Thanks. Chris crispycritter

Sigh....My partners will be sadly disappointed in my choice of books. :( I hope I can at least write candid and honestly about them and make it interesting for them. Sorry in advance.
