Description:

Since the demand was high for an international version of my Dollar Store Shopping Spree Swap, I decided to get it started now...

For this swap you will have one swap partner and a spending limit of 10 dollars to spend at any local dollar store ( or on 10 one dollar items ).

In the comments post a couple of things you would like to receive and then leave the rest of the purchases up to your partner. You could receive something totally useful or something outrageously weird. Just remember to have fun with this swap and be sure to not send anything that may offend your partner!

Also, do not forget to check out your partners profile to see what type of things they are interested in before you go shopping!

RULES OF THIS SWAP

Newbies are welcome but please DO NOT join if you have no intentions of sending!
Also, you MUST have a completed profile! I will be checking and banning anyone who does not!

You MUST NOT have more than TWO (2) no sends or you will be banned from this swap! I want to make sure everyone gets their packages. No one likes being left out, let alone people who take a great deal of time and money to put together their packages, only to get nothing back in return!

Just remember this... karma is not a type of gooey filling in chocolate!

Happy swapping everyone!

There are lots of weird and wonderful things in the 100 yen shops of Tokyo. I hope my swap partner enjoys domestic mysteries.

butterflykisses 02/ 9/2007 #

Personally I'm all up for surprises on this one!

If my swap partner wants some ideas on what to send, check out my profile! It's full of alot of my likes and dislikes!

I'm all up for getting some international candy too! I once received some chocolate from Sweden that was devine! I wanted to make that bar last for eternity!

user988 02/ 9/2007 #

I would like souvenirs of your country, Banknotes, Coins, Stamps, Postcards. Anything to do with your country/state/city

user6209 02/ 9/2007 #

In Australia we have a place called cheap as chips....... really they aren't as cheap as chips but they have some really funks and usless items that sell for around $1AU. This sounds like a fun thing to do......

user6209 02/ 9/2007 #

Oh yeah I'm a weirdo so the weirder the better for me. I don't care how outragous it is......

florspace 02/ 9/2007 #

I'm new...attracted to swapbot by another swap! But no worries coz I'm never a no-send. I'm from Singapore and love the dollarstore stuff! Anything's nice, though they must be adorable! Partner will get equally adorable things from me! ;+)

drewzel 02/ 9/2007 #

I'd love some teeny tiny Kawaii type stickers. And if my partner could find empty matchboxes in their $1 store, I'd so appreciate it! (I make my own at the moment and they're a bit ordinary.)

Libbybear 02/ 9/2007 #

I would love teddy items, or bunny items for Easter. I like earrings and magnets and any Christmas items :)

Susi 02/10/2007 #

I'd like anythink to do with art. stickers, words, stamps erasers, you can find a liot of things in the stationary section as well, like paper clips, binder clips pens etc. So that is what I'd like. Or... anything funky that I can use in my art. I like game pieces, flash cards, min things, i could go on and on...things that can be used in altered books, on altered ceds. foam letters and shapes... right now I am looking for thins that are blue or blank, they need to shiny, and shimmery, for an altered book swap i am in. Hmm, whaat else. storage containers, you could get get on and put stuff it it, but the postage might cost too much...anyway, if i can make anything cleaerer than mud just let me know! susi

TerryF 02/10/2007 #

Anything for sewing/crafting (e.g., glass beads, ribbon, scrapping paper, brads, stickers, stamps, punches, etc.) would be great. I also like stationery, paper clips, pens, etc. My profile also has other ideas. Thx.

arentyouthatgirl 02/11/2007 #

I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to put down as what I would like. I must be having a senior moment because I can't think of a thing! So I think I'm going to let my partner decide. When you go to your dollar store, pick up things that you would like, then send them to me! That way, it will be a total surprise!

tvstar 02/13/2007 #

I am looking for anything kawaii or Sanrio. I would love San-x..Gloomy Bear..Cram Cream. Anything like that:)

ozrob 02/14/2007 #

this sounds like so much fun......count me in items I would like include: anything bright sparkly and fun craft or stationery items (erasers are a fav) and something unique to your country (souvenier). Whatever you like!! I'm new too but delivery is a sure thing :)

tateva 02/14/2007 #

Anything for me, happy to send as far overseas as i can, it's a small world after all!!!

Susi 02/15/2007 #

i agree with tateva, send me anything, and i'll send anywhere! i am easy!! susi

sara0811 02/16/2007 #

Surprise me... but nothing strongly scented please. Anything that works for making ATC's etc. would be helpful.

shopinc 02/16/2007 #

I love surprises! (: Especially cute stationery, or any home decor stuff. But anything's fine with me! (:

user6337 02/16/2007 #

woooo hoooo....i have just joined my first swap....i would love to get a headband or two, some lollies (i love international lollies) and something funky.

I am really excited to be participating in this and can't wait to get my partner!!

DragonflyCrafts 02/17/2007 #

I received nothing from my last two swap partners so I'm back in to see if my luck changes. I love cheap shops and you can get really good stuff. Count me in.

BUSYBEE 02/20/2007 #

Shopping at the $ store is my second job, so anything goes. If it fits in a purse it is good, because most of everything I get ends up in 1 of my 4 year olds purses...and when I say purses I mean like she has 60 or more of them. This is GREAT...I am getting antsy...cant wait to start shopping

zanylady 02/20/2007 #

Are you letting Swap-bot do the assigning of partners? I\'m asking because I would like to get/have other-than-USA partners.

Marlene

swapperk 02/21/2007 #

Hi Everyone, looking forward to this swap, we have a SUPER local dollar store, often hard to believe they can sell some of the stuff for only a dollar! I love chocolate, and anything that is cute (ie. notepads, pens)or useful! Whatever my partner send me is great! Thanks in advance!

shazzam 02/22/2007 #

I\'m SO in! We also have a pretty amazing dollar store and I love finding and sharing treasures from there. I\'d really like to be paired up with someone outside of the US to make things interesting. I like lots of things (and do have a profile) but there are some things I would prefer to avoid ... candles and other strongly scented items, stickers and notecards come to mind. I\'d love some cool pens or markers and maybe something fun (or useful) for the kitchen. Happy swapping

user4174 02/22/2007 #

Many ideas for my partner!! I would love souvenirs from your country like posta cards stamps and stuff like that. Anything that can be used for art...stencils, stickers, stationaries, little pic frames, envelopes ect. I love turtles, weird stuff and buttons. Looking foward to this swap!!!

user6496 02/23/2007 #

Yeah this is great,i love all kinds of weird things. But especially everything that looks cute :D

user1664 02/24/2007 #

I like items that can be used for arts and crafts - prefer non-cute. That said, I will be happy with whatever comes my way. Happy shopping everyone ....

user2935 02/24/2007 #

I'm really pretty open to anything, but would prefer things that are less character driven (Hello Kitty, etc.) I love stationary, candle holders, tea cups, wrapping paper, stickers, etc. Surprise me!

user2794 02/25/2007 #

Can't wait for this one! I have longer hair, so I like unusual barrettes or tiebacks. I loooooove all things hippo--realistic, not cutsy or stuffed. I don't care for the color green or pastels. Anything unusual or weird would be great!

zanylady 02/25/2007 #

I was hoping for an International partner (non-US) but happy to shop for my US buddy....this will be fun as she likes lots of things!

If any non-US swappers want to do a private swap....I'd be delighted. Love to learn about different cultures and places.

Happy shoping, everyone. Marlene

ozrob 02/25/2007 #

I can't believe there are so many US people that wanted a partner outside the US. I'm in Australia and my partner is in Germany! Stupid computer random partner picker!!! lol I have sent my package already. Postage cost more than the items inside!

butterflykisses 02/26/2007 #

ozrob - alot of people here in the US were hoping for an International partner, but more US participants signed up than International ones, so it was not surprising to see alot of the US swappers getting a partner here in the US. All in all we had more swappers from Australia sign up than from any other country!

mediatinker 02/26/2007 #

My box of goodies is on its way from Japan to Canada today.

Susi 02/27/2007 #

Hmmmm... ozrob, my be we could switch partners? I signed up for both the international, and the USA, and got both US partners...what do you think? would you be interested in having a US partner or do you think your oartner might like to switch? actually no would now...what do you think? let me know, and we can communicate via messages, so it's private. susi

Susi 02/27/2007 #

grrr I did not read that you'd already sent your package yet! Is there anyone else out there who might like to switch? I really wanted to have a partner from another country...the dollar stores here are about all the same, I want to get stuff from some where else! if anyone international is up to this let me know. I really can't afford to send out two pkgs right now, but maybe an international participant might want to do a private swap in a month or so... any takers?

tvstar 02/27/2007 #

Just because who you send to is in the US..doesn't mean who sends to you is the same person..I believe.

butterflykisses 02/28/2007 #

tvstar - you're correct... just because your partner is in the US it doesn't mean that you won't get something from someone in another country.

Susi 02/28/2007 #

true i didn't think of that... but i also wanted to send some USA stuff out overseas...it's ok, i'll jst keep my partners, and see who has me! susi

butterflykisses 03/ 2/2007 #

ATTENTION EVERYONE!!! - it seems that there has been some confusion about the $10 limit for this swap. The idea of this swap was to go to a dollar store ( a store that sells only one dollar items ) and buy 10 items which would equal $10 for the spending limit. One person has already received a swap with only five items inside because their partner had to spend five dollars on shipping. The ten dollar limit is to be spent on the items... not the items and the shipping combined. I'm sorry that I did not make that completly clear, but I am posting this in hopes that any one else out there who is not really sure about the spending limit, now knows what it means.

zanylady 03/ 3/2007 #

WooooHooo...am I one lucky gal. I was moaning about not getting an International partner and guess what....I kinda got one anyway. A really bit thank you to Susan who sent me a boxful of delighful goodies, some with International flavor! I had to open some very carefully because I want to use the cool paper. Then there were just all kinds of neat things to play/create and just have fun with. You're a peach!

Marlene (happy, happy!!!)

zanylady 03/ 3/2007 #

OOPS...I meant a really BIG thank you to Susan

Marlene (red-faced for not proofing)

butterflykisses 03/ 4/2007 #

Dragonfly-Crafts - Your packaged will be posted first thing Monday morning! I really hope you like it and hopefully it won't take too long to find its way to Australia!

Susi 03/ 4/2007 #

Melanie, Haven't sent your things out yet... anything in particular you'd like, other than things for your daughter's purses? LOL or do you just like surprises? Give me a hint pls! Thanks, Susi

Susi 03/ 4/2007 #

btw to my partner, if you have not sent my pkg yet, i just read what I wrote, ant a mess of typos!!! I was trying to say that I like craft stuff, but don't be limitted by that! I am looking for blue, black and white or silver things, paper, gift bags etc for an altered book round robin I am in. Anything with BLING, lol Shiny, shimmery etc. Other wise, surprises are ok... but I did fail to say I am NOT into home decor stuff, but if you got some, and sent it out, i am cool with it. susi, your indecisive partner!

jannikinz 03/ 4/2007 #

I just posted my package to 'Winnie'...hope you like it. This is a most enjoyable swap...loved shopping.

Winnie 03/ 6/2007 #

I just posted my package too, so I hope she like it. =))

shazzam 03/ 7/2007 #

I just sent my package off to Robin in Australia. (hope you like it) ... Sheesh tho, I spent over $20 to mail it ... I'm beginning to understand the appeal of matchbox and flat thing swaps :). It's such fun to swap internationally ... I'll just have to add a new line item to my budget :)

Brooke 03/ 7/2007 #

I just sent my package to Kristen in Tokyo! Hope you like everything!

Brooke 03/ 7/2007 #

I just sent my package to Mediatinker in Tokyo! Hope you like everything!

Susi 03/ 7/2007 #

user5574 03/ 8/2007 #

Susi, I sent your package out this afternoon, so it should arrive in about a week..ish. Sorry that I'm not international. Hopefully you'll like my package anyway.

tvstar 03/ 8/2007 #

Debbie in VA..I sent off your package today..hope you enjoy it!!

butterflykisses 03/ 8/2007 #

Marlene - I came home from doing a bit of shopping today and found your package waiting for me on my doorstep! What wonderful things you sent! I had alot of fun unwrapping everything and I even saved the ribbon for a future crafty project! Thank you so much for everything! It was perfect!

tvstar 03/10/2007 #

Awww...I haven't gotten mine yet. I hope my partner has sent mine out..I can't wait!

arentyouthatgirl 03/10/2007 #

Bunnycutie,

You're package went out today and should arrive within a week or so. At least I hope it'll be only a week!

nc001 03/12/2007 #

tvstar, your's was posted on Saturday morning, had planned on posting during the week but wasn't well. Not sure how long it will take to get to you from Ireland but at least a week I think!! It's on it's way!!!!!

Nina..

user5574 03/12/2007 #

I was kind of disappointed with the swap package I received. I know I didn't post anything that I particularly wanted, but I received a bunch of junk that I don't think anyone could ever use or would wish to use (for instance, a hairbrush, which creeps me out, and a package of sticky jelly bracelets for children when I do not have children nor mention having any in my profile). I tried to send stuff to my partner that was useful or at least attractive. But half of the package I received went into the trash.

nc001 03/12/2007 #

ok this is just incredible. as i said before i had taken tvstar's package to the post office on saturday morning. when i came home from work tonight what was on the side but the package i sent to tvstar!!! they'd delivered to the return address. i had to laugh, i just couldn't believe it. it was clearly marked return address!! sorry about this tvstar, my husband is being despatched back to the post office first thing tomorrow morning to ask them very nicely to send it to america not to send it back 500 yards down the road!

Nina..

joanandemma 03/12/2007 #

Lunea - your package was mailed on Mar 5, so you should get it anytime now. I just read ataventure's note about her parcel. EEk! I hope mine is OK and you like it, I enjoyed putting it together. I am a new swapper but wish to keep up with the standards. If not, send me a personal note and I will try to fix it - please don't shame me in front of fellow swappers!

Thanks, Joan

user1664 03/12/2007 #

Hi Joan - Thanks for the message. I'm looking forward to your package and I'm sure I'll love it - don't worry about it. I look at this type of swap as an adventure for both the sender and receiver!

Lunea

arentyouthatgirl 03/13/2007 #

TVSTAR!!!

SOOOOO COOL!!!! These are the goodies:

Roasted Red Pepper dip mix 2.5 bag of foil confetti (I can see this going on a handmade bookmark, or ATC, or...?) "I Love Chocolate" bobble pen. It's so cute! Red socks with pink hearts. I love ankle socks! Winterberry shower gel english rose bath salt. mmmmmmmmmmmm - yummy Cadbury mini eggs. Avacado hand cream adorable plastic cupcake with - YES! - hershey kisses inside!!

Such an interested variety! THANK YOU!! It great!

shazzam 03/13/2007 #

I got my wish -- an international package from Winnie in Chile. Each item was individually wrapped which made it even more fun. My favorite item was the package of Key caps in funky patterns (I have not seen any like that here). Another surprise was a fuzzy purple and green brooch which is so NOT me ... and yet I love it and plan to surprise people I know by actually wearing it (so there!). I will post pictures soon. Thanks Winnie.

tvstar 03/13/2007 #

Thank you Nina..I can't wait to receive the package:)

ozrob 03/13/2007 #

Sharon...I received your package today. THANK YOU so much. I love everything.

Winnie 03/14/2007 #

Sharon, Im happy!! I was wondering you like it! I know that there are many people that dont wear broochs (also me, I use them only when I have to wear something which dont have buttons, jajajja), but I bought it thinking that you could use it to embellish an overcoat, scarf, or a tote bag, purse, etc. I bought another for me too and everyone like it!! =)) Hugs Winnie

ellawitch 03/14/2007 #

i just read ataventure's comments about what i sent and i have to be honest that i am very hurt by what she said. i did not sent junk whatsoever and you can see what i sent on my flickr site. i am sorry she did not like what i chose for her but i think her comments above were a bit rude. maybe i wasn't spot on with my choices (i thought from her profile she liked fun and different and tried to send things in that vein) but nothing i sent was old or trash. if she had wanted nothing but useful things she should have said so (and weirdly enough the one thing i sent that was useful - the hairbrush - she complained about anyway). i was just very shocked by her comments and the intense displeasure she had with what i sent. i try to always send great swap packages and i am sorry she didn't like anything i sent.

ellawitch 03/15/2007 #

here's a link to my flickr pictures of what i sent: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellawitch/415058741/in/set-72157594558746119/ & http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellawitch/415058740/in/set-72157594558746119/

BUSYBEE 03/15/2007 #

I got mine I have not been able to post have not had computer...

butterflykisses 03/15/2007 #

ellawitch - Don't let the comment left by ataventure get to you. I thought what you sent was very nice and it is especially hard to shop for a partner when they did not post a list of things they would like to receive in the comments like I asked them to. It is even harder to shop for a partner when they have a limited amount of likes and dislikes posted on their profile as well. This is one reason why everyone should have a complete and detailed profile filled out! I agree that the comment was a bit rude and if she felt offended by what you sent, she should have contacted you personally and not lashed out at you here. You seem to be someone who put alot of thought into your swap and I was very happy to have had you for a partner in the What Changed My Life Swap!

tvstar 03/16/2007 #

Deb: I am so glad you like everything:) Enjoy! I had a great time putting it together for you!!

Kellie

arentyouthatgirl 03/22/2007 #

Bunniecutie,

I'm getting a bit worried! Have you received the package yet? I sent it on the 10th (squeaked by on the deadline, didn't I??) I've never sent a package to Europe before and I added a little extra postage to get it there faster. I did get confirmation for it, so if it doesn't show up soon, I'll try tracking it down on this end.

jannikinz 03/22/2007 #

Feeling a little on the outer here, I haven't as yet received anything. BUT am still hoping.

arentyouthatgirl 03/27/2007 #

Bunniecutie,

I found this on the US Postal Service website:

Label/Receipt Number: CP05 2110 593U S Status: Delivered Abroad

Your item was delivered in GREAT BRITAIN at 5:24 PM on March 23, 2007

Knowing nothing about Customs, etc, I hope it gets there soon!
