Description:

Each person will start one 5X7 or larger postcard. By start I mean cut it out from a sturdy source (we do love those cereal boxes) and do just a background (collage, paint, gelli print, whatever). Put your return address clearly in the upper left corner of the back. You may add a small note on the back, but leave room for others to add their notes too. This card is then mailed NAKED to your partner. The next three add a body part of the creature. The last person mails the Super Human Sea Creature back to the originator who created the background.

When you receive an Add & Pass you will make your mark to the sea creature, add your bits, peel off the canceled stamps (or cover them over) and add new ones, change the "send-to" address and send it again on it's merry way to the next person in line. Be sure to remove that Post Office barcode too (sometimes its a sticker, sometimes orange printing) or the card would end up coming back to you again.

Try and be super-careful that your glues are properly sticky and that the destination address is always clearly where it belongs.

The difference between this one and some of the other Add & Pass projects on Swap-bot is that you are not restricted to a certain area of the card - just make sure you add a body part to the Super Human Sea Creature - see below for more details. You can add as much or as little as you need. It's even okay to partially cover other bits. The card will be in constant evolution as it travels.

Once the partners are assigned we'll take this to the forum to keep track of the order and progress.

Eventually you will get back your original card that will now be a fabulous collaboration.

As with all of our SMA collaborative swaps please try to hold on to each card for no more than two weeks. These should turn around pretty quickly.

Create postcard-sized art that features a creature from the sea with sea creature and human parts, maybe even robot parts.

The parts should be divided like this:

  • 1 head/shoulders
  • 2 shoulders/torso
  • 3 hips/legs/feet

One part of the body must be a sea creature, another part human, and the other part of the creature is up to you.

The forum thread is HERE for tracking etc after partners are assigned.

Um, it says 10 partners? But it says I send to a partner and "the next three..." So is that 3, or 4 partners?

FarStarr 06/15/2016 #

We put it at 10 so that when it comes time to rate, you will have the ability to rate the people who worked on your card.

You make the background. Partner 1 adds one piece, partner 2 adds the next piece, partner 3 finishes it and sends it back to you.

Partners are assigned. Please go to the forum thread to find the sending order and keep track of where the cards are. Have fun!
