Are we writing a message to our partner, or including the Hello sentiment inside the card?

My first idea was to write it in the card, but I'll leave it to the sender to decide if they would rather write their hello on a separate piece of paper. I know some stampers really enjoy leaving the actual card blank. Hope that makes sense.
