Description:

This is a collaboration postcard and swap. It is similar to our regular Pass and Paste postcards (as it will have rounds), but in this series.......all artists will work on one side of the postcard forming one large collaboration of art. These are some of my favorite mail art postcards.
You can start in at any time. For your first round, you will start a postcard. To begin a postcard, address the backside of the postcard to yourself. Divide the writing portion into 3 or 4 sections, for collaborating artists to write their notes, swap info, user names, etc.
On the front side, the person starting the postcard will add some Art as a base...can be collage, mixed media, painting, whatever. Each following round, the next artist will add 2 or 3 elements, and then pass it on to the next artist for the next round. On occasion you may get a partner whose card you are working on.....Do not send the artist who started the postcard their own card to work on. If this happens to you, simply start a new card, and hold that one till the next round, or you can always send it to me. When all artists have completed the sections on the back, it is ready to be sent home to the original starter.
If you send a card home to the original artist, you may need to start a new postcard to send to your partner.
The postcards can be any size. They will be mailed in an Decorated envelope, between the artists, until the maximum number of artists/spaces is reached, and then it will be mailed Naked or in a clear envelope, back to the original starter of the postcard. The person sending the postcard home will add the postage. The end result is a collaboration piece of art from 3-4 artists. No stickers please.

If you have any questions, just ask.

I would love to see these when they are finished......if you can, please post a picture in our forum. Please remember to put your user names and the swap name on each postcard you send out.

Have fun.

WolfEagle, So, how many artists actually work on the card besides the original sender? Three or four? So if I were to sign up then I'd wait to get my partner's name/addy info & then send a started post card to them, correct? In the meantime, someone will be sending me a post card to be worked on, right? I am just trying to wrap my head around everything. I went & looked in the forum & this looks like a lot of fun. The artwork can certainly go off in a lot of different directions & end up quite stellar=)

Yes, I think they are fantastic. The Collaborations are my favorite postcards. And they are always so different and unique, which is the part I like most. It's also great to see how each artist works with the other artists in their creations to form this one Collaborative project. The number of participants is up to the original starter/artist. Typically most people choose to have space for 3 or 4 artists.

Well, I am not what I consider myself to be a tried & true artist but will do my best on this one.

Oh, btw, where does everyone get those clear envelopes from? I don't have any.

If you mail in a clear envelope, use regular first class stamp on the outside (so it can be cancelled), not a postcard stamp.

Here is one place to buy online.

I buy them on eBay or Amazon, but don't always use them. I tend to use them in the winter, when the weather is poor. But actually prefer the marks, etc that happen along the way when mailing them Naked. I have even had a few post marked on the wrong side (The art side) which would probably drive some people nuts, but I think it just adds to the character. ;D So, just go with whatever you prefer.

Thanks for the info, DaisyNY.

Ahhh, I see, wolfeagle. So would it be better to ask the next artist what they prefer as far as mailing goes or just go with your own gut instinct? Ii may end up doing both at different times. Have to wait & see how it goes.....
