Description:

If you have a wondering imagination and love to write you'll enjoy this swap.

This is the second in a series of fantasy writing swaps but anyone can join.

The swap is for a letter (2 sides of a4 minimum, hand written or typed) to your partners in the style of this month’s theme.

2 Partners, colour copies are fine.

You are free to let your imagination take you where it will.

Although the swap only requires you to send a letter, you may wish to go that little bit extra and carry the theme as far as you can taking into account the materials you use.

This month’s theme is: You are stranded on a desert island.

Imagination prompts:

  • Where do you think you are?
  • How did you get there?
  • How are you surviving?
  • What do you need from the person you are writing to?

This isn't a pen pal swap so don't feel obliged to form a pen pal relationship but if you are interested in doing so include this in an accompanying note. Don’t forget to include your screen name or real name somewhere to make sure your partner knows whom the letter is from.

If you have any ideas for future themes please message me!

Open to: Ratings of 4 and above. Newbies welcome. More than two 1's in the last 6 months? Contact me to let me know you're exited about this swap and we'll work it out!

CLOVERST -- Love writing swaps, they're getting me psyched for a major writing project, oiling the gears, so to speak. Two suggestions, since photocopying is cheap and available, why not 3 or 4 partners so other people's ideas can spark ours further? And a suggestion for another exercise: you're walking through the woods and come upon a house. what's it like, who lives there, etc. ... It's the Goldilocks situation but what else could it be?

That's a great suggestion Calendergirl! I'll add it to my list!

The only reason that there is only 2 partners not more is the cost of international postage. I'd like the most people to be able to join in and this way those on low budgets can still take part.

That said I am open to suggestions on ways to be able to make everyones letters available to all involved. In one swap I'm doing it has been suggested that those with scanners could scan them and I could collect them and send out an ebook of them. Those without scanners could photocopy and send them in.

I'm stumped really.

Well the first creative letter swap is over and I can say I thoroughly enjoyed making up the letter!

Oh, goodie! This won't be the only one! I can hardly wait to see what'll come next! I started mriting tonight, and so far I like how it's coming. I thought I'd write it all tonight, but I found myself really getting into it too much to do a quickie job of it. I don't want to take too long with it since I'm a newbie here and want to earn a good reputation, but on the other hand, I don't want to rush it either. I'm going to take it day by day as it continues to emerge more and more and treat it like any other writing I'd be doing, keeping my deadline right in mind to keep me on course timewise yet taking it serious enough to really put my whole heart and soul into my work. This is SO MUCH FUN!!! :-D

A suggestion for a possible future creative letter project/swap that I've seen done in a few novels I've read and each one, although similar in its basic concept, quite different in how it played out:

You've been in a coma for a very long time and not expected to come out of it, but you do. What happened to you for you to become comatose? Where are you? When you come out of it, what are the circumstances you find yourself in? What do you remember of your life beforehand? Any memories or impressions from while you were comatose? What happens now? Where do you go from there? Do you really know how you were? Who you are? Or do you have no memories at all? Or are you more or less awakening to a "clean slate"?

Just a thought...just my crazy imagination running a bit wild.....

Aurora and Michelle, your letters are on the way -- maybe a bit different than expected but I hope you enjoy them.

Shannon, your desert island letter arrived, thank you. I've had loved even more about the "author" of the letter.

Next ones up: here

Ok, I finally finished my letters and they are on their way to Shannon and Marie. My take was a little bit more morbid, but I hope that you enjoy them anyway! laughs Mailing tomorrow
