Description:

We're coming up on a time of year when a lot of home cooking goes on. A lot of that cooking gets done with ingredients that have recipes printed on the back, side, or inside of the packages they come in, whether that be a box, bag, jar, can, pouch, or bottle. These recipes are commonly called "back-of-the-box recipes," regardless of the actual type of package they come in/on.

For this swap, you will have 2 partners, and you will send 2 different back-of-the-box recipes to each person. (So you'll need 4 recipes total.) Each of the two recipes for each partner must be from a different product. The recipes need to still be on the original material on which they were printed (cardboard box, paper label from a can, back of a freezer bag, etc.)β€”so be careful with the packaging when you cook with the ingredient, since the recipe must be kept in its original form. Ultimately, however, it's not necessary to send the complete package for the swap; feel free to cut the recipe out (neatly) and send just that part. You will not be sending any of the contents of the package, only the recipe itself.

Recipes are sender's choice and may be for any type of food: main dishes, desserts, soups, drinks, etc. If you have serious food allergies or very strong preferences and don't want to receive anything that you might not be able to use, this may not be the swap for you. Keep in mind, though, that should you receive a recipe or two that you will never end up trying, you could always save it to send to someone else in future iterations of this same swap. (I'll host a round 2 if there is interest.)

Please note: Instructions on the back of a boxed cake mix that explain how to use the contents to bake a cake, for example, do not constitute a back-of-the-box recipe. The type of recipe that we are looking for is generally one that uses the ingredient from a single-ingredient package (plus other elements) to make a dish. For example, that recipe for a pumpkin pie that is often found on the back of a can of solid pack pumpkin is a back-of-the-box recipe, as is the recipe for chocolate chip cookies that appears on the back of a bag of chocolate chips. Let's try to stay away from these ultra common recipes, though; try to send something that your partner may not have made before.

It is not necessary for you to have made the recipes before as this is not an exclusively "tried and true" recipe swap.

Recipes may be in English or in any other language that your partner understands. Do make completely sure that your partner is able to read Dutch before sending a recipe in that language, for example; if there is any doubt at all, message them first to see!

A minimum rating average of 4.95 is required to participate, and you should have at least five completed and rated (as 5s) type-2 or type-3 swaps under your belt. I reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason. I will angel, if necessary, but please don't make that necessary.

Partners will be assigned on December 1st, and your recipes should be mailed soon after that, by December 10th at the latest.
