Description:

[EDIT #2] I'm very thankful for all the feedback, and as of right now I'm going to change the number of participants to 4. That way the package is not as heavy, and we can still print photos. Of course, I'm very open to suggestions and feedback, and nothing set in stone! :)

[EDIT] Right now we are trying to figure out how to keep the cost of postage down. Check out comments section and don't hesitate to comment yourself with suggestions!

I would like to do this swap a little bit different than previous ones. This swap will be a REAL voyager, with toy traveling around until it's finally comes back to you. I'm still making it international, so be prepared for high cost of postage (with recent postal changes over at US) and don't sign up if you are not planning of following up through with it. I'll host one of the 'regular' toy voyagers, as a cheaper alternative, so that a lot more people can join. :)

  • Unfortunately due to the nature of this swap, it will be open only to those with 5.0 rating or for those I personally swapped with.

  • This swap will be limited to about 4 people, and I will close it and move the deadline up once I get enough participants.

  • You will have one (1) partner.

  • Pick a toy that you like, but please make sure it's on a smaller size, to keep postage down.

  • Take 5-10 photos around your town: library, gallery, museum, bookstore, mall, your house, forest, and anything else that's interesting and fun around where you live, but make sure that the toy appears in every one of those photos.

  • Please make sure you'll have a variety of photos, to make toy's 'journey' interesting.

  • Mail photos to your partner, along with the toy. Your partner then in turn will take photos of the toy and mail it to the next person until it's finally comes back to you.

  • Remember, you will always send to and receive from SAME people. I will message each of you to let you know who your partners are.

  • Please don't keep toys longer than 7 days.

  • Put a comment in the comment section below when you send a toy, to whom and whose toy it was. Please do the same thing with toys you receive.

  • If you have any suggestions, please message me, or leave comments :)

  • Have fun swapping!

great idea but this could end up extremely expensive! the last person to send would have to send the toy and up to 60-70 photos! is this how it would work out?

jewels1 05/15/2007 #

Might be cheaper if the pictures were emailed to the toy owner each time.

robotshop 05/15/2007 #

What about setting up a flickr pool?

tIREEN 05/15/2007 #

That's why I gave an option of 5-10 photos. But I also was thinking something along the lines of putting photos of REwritible cd, so that everyone can just add to it.

The email is a GREAT idea too, but they'll have to be in pretty big format/resolution (which is not a problem with current mailbox sizes) so that people can print them out if they want to.

Robot_shop, what's flikr pool? :)

Let me know what you think, and I'll change description around!

The other idea I just had (wow, doing BORING work is very mind stimulating about creative things) is to make swap group smaller, like 3-4 ppl and just make more swaps. That way we can still print photos, but it wouldn't be as heavy.

i'm so in, i loved the last toy voyager and this one sounds even better! maybe it would be a good idea to put a limit on the size of the toy? it was just a thought, cos it would be a little unfair if one person picks a toy the size of a key chain and then someone else picks a toy thats the size of a small house and then that would stop the postage getting too huge too. what do you think?

tIREEN 05/16/2007 #

HoneyBunny, I think it's a GREAT idea! I will add that to the description :)

ozrob 05/16/2007 #

So the first round of sending would not have to include photos, just the toy because it's your original toy you receive back, is that right?

tIREEN 05/16/2007 #

Ozrob, my original idea was to take photos anyway, buy I'll have no problem with sending JUST a toy. Should save on postage too :)

Is this closed and unjoinable?

I hope it works...

tIREEN 05/29/2007 #

Ozrob, I messaged everyone to ask for their opinions, and we will try to get back to you ASAP. Meanwhile, I'm extending the deadline to sign up so we will have time to get everyone's opinions in. :)

iKitten 05/29/2007 #

it is kinda big... is it heavy?

robotshop 05/29/2007 #

Is that on top of a pc monitor? It does look quite big...I don't want to be a kill joy :-(

ozrob 05/29/2007 #

he weighs 8oz (225grams) so he's not real heavy just kinda round! I have no problem changing to a smaller toy, it's just that he is so darn cute!

ozrob 05/30/2007 #

he's trying to look smaller!

ozrob 05/30/2007 #

mug shot!

ozrob 05/30/2007 #

it's ok I got a much smaller toy to send. He's still a monkey! :o)

user7216 05/31/2007 #

If you love this idea and want to continue your toy's adventures, why not join toyvoyagers.com, an international community dedicated to travelling toys. We'd love to see you there!

ozrob 06/ 2/2007 #

I would like photos to be printed and sent with my monkey, if thats ok with everyone. thanks :o)

ozrob 06/ 5/2007 #

I sent my toy to iKitten today.

ozrob 06/12/2007 #

Pete arrived today from Robot_Shop

iKitten 06/14/2007 #

my toy will be at tIREEN's in about 1-3 days.

tIREEN 06/14/2007 #

My toy went to Robot_shop today!!! :) Take good care of her and take her to lots of fun places!!! :)

ozrob 06/14/2007 #

so we should only have each toy for about a week, right? then send it on.

tIREEN 06/15/2007 #

Ozrob, yes we should have each toy for about a week. :) Of course if for some reason you need to keep it longer, I think it will be ok, just as long as it's no more than 2 weeks.

BTW, got iKitten's green Octopus!! It's sooo ADORABLE! :)

ozrob 06/22/2007 #

ozrob 07/27/2007 #

It has been a month since I sent Robot_Shop's toy. What has happened to everyone??? Where on earth has my toy gone??!!

tIREEN 07/29/2007 #

I haven't gotten any toys as of July 24th.. but then I'm in California now, and won't be back till August 3rd. I'll update everyone if I have any toys waiting for me at home :) once I come back.

ozrob 08/ 4/2007 #

I haven't received a toy in over a month and that was Robot_Shop's toy. I haven't seen any others and I still have no clue where mine is. I'm guessing they are all stuck in the UK.

ozrob 08/12/2007 #

this sucks!

robotshop 08/29/2007 #

Hi there, I posted Hello Kitty and a really cute little Octopus to Ozrob a good while ago (i'll have to check my records to find out exactly when). No nugget though? Any sign of my toy?

ozrob 10/15/2007 #

this is just a total mess....I totally regret joining :o(
