Description:

For some time now I have kept a little notebook in my purse and I try to write down at least one thing per day that makes me happy - you know, that one unexpected thing that pops into your mind that makes you smile or something that catches your eye while you're driving along. I frequently get it out and look over past things I've written - especially on trying days. It really helps!

Today I thought about my last visit with my best friend. We took a day trip to the Rocky Mountain National Park and unexpectedly came across a small herd of bighorn sheep. The leader was standing higher on the cliff than the others, watching over them all, looking so regal. I jumped out of the car and snapped some pictures. Ok, so maybe that wouldn't make you smile, but it did me. It was a perfect day. Or another one is the way my 2 yr old grandson announces he wants "hamburger cheese" for supper. And then there's the smell of fresh cut grass, or the way watermelon juice dribbles off a kid's elbow when they are eating a slice, smiling all the while .........

For this swap, we will alter a mini composition book. School supplies are starting to be clearanced out right now so you can find them very inexpensively. Theme of the cover is sender's choice - since you are writing about what makes YOU happy that only seems fair :0) Please put some effort into it - show off your skills, lol.

As for the journal - let's say 20 entries - at least one page each (these are little journals and the pages are small). If you want to add a picture, a drawing, stickers or whatever to embelish what you are writing about - go for it. The more involved the better.

You will have one partner. Since this one is a bit involved I will limit it to those with at least 10 snail mail swaps and a minimum 4.8 rating. If you are a newbie and want to participate, please message me I might be willing to set up a one-on-one swap with you that you will still be rated for. For now I will say US, Canada and Mexico. If there's a strong interest I'll make an international version, as well.

There will be a full month to complete, but since this is not specific to your partner, you can start journaling now. Have fun and let me know if you have any questions! ENJOY!!

I love this idea - I'm putting it on my watchlist... although I might go ahead and buy the notebook and get started altering.

When you swap a journal, do you get it back, or does your partner keep it? Thanks for answering my ignorant question. :)

Darby - No ignorant questions. On this one your partner will keep it. And there should be extra empty pages so your partner can add their own "Happiness" entries :0)

I received a question about the type of notebook to use - here was my answer:

The "cow print" kind- they have a sturdy cover just like the larger sized ones. I have found them in 2 pks at Target. They have 80 sheets and measure 4 1/2 X 3 1/4. If you cant find those in your area, something comparable is fine. I just like these because the cover is easier to alter.
