Description:

This swap is for the Painter! Whether it be acrylic, water colors, or oils. Everyone will choose the colors they would like they painting they receive to have to have. Then you will pick up a paint brush and let your imagination run wild. I never liked being told what to paint in art school and therefore wanted to do a swap that allowed the person receiving the piece to have a little say in what's being sent to them, but also wanted to allow a medium of surprise and the painter to express their creativeness.

I believe everyone is an artist if they put their mind to it! So even if you have never painted before or you are an expert, all are welcome! Just remember the person sending to you is putting lots of thought behind it, therefore you should do the same!

This painting should be a canvas of 8x10 or bigger. Shipping might be a little high depending on which you choose, therefore I am keeping this swap within the USA

I will allow plenty of time for this swap and would greatly appreciate it if you enter this swap knowing you will put lots of effort into it. Something someone would want to hang in their home. That's what I hope to do with mine!

No Newbies please. You must have a rating of 4.89999 or higher. I do not want anyone to get flaked on, but I will fill in for those who can not keep up their end of the barggan. Please don't sign up if you do not have the time to complete this swap. I will be making sure everyone has good ratings and no funny stuff is going on.

Questions welcome!

I hope you enjoy this as much as I am looking forward to it!

Post your color preference below.

Am thinking about this one. Any chance we could push the send by date back a bit? I know that is probably enough time for me... I am just worried I won't get it done. Like, a week into December? Also, can this be done on those canvas covered boards, or does it need to be on stretched canvas?

Watercolor on canvas? Can that really be done. Never tried doing it that way always using watercolor paper.

CalizonaDesigns 10/23/2009 #

@ladydy5 I've been able to use watercolor on canvas. I think its looks nice.

pthalostars 10/23/2009 #

& my color preference = aquas/greens/turquoise/gold - anything including or all of the above!!!

pthalostars 10/23/2009 #

@ladydy5 - see my profile pics for some examples of watercolor on canvas :) there's a golden acrylic medium called "absorbent ground" that you primer the canvas with & it gives it a tooth like watercolor paper, pretty cool :)

ack! I'd LOVE to do this but it is too close to Thanksgiving and we are heading south that week...hope you do this again!

BayBeeLuvsThee 10/25/2009 #

I'm going to move the sign up date and the sent by date, because I want more people to sign up and because of the holidays ;) But by doing so hope people really take the time to do a good job. If you have a lot planned for the holiday season, take in consideration, if you can really full fill this swap.

I do not paint with water colors and didn't realize you don't usually paint on canvas. So perhaps some nice sturdy paper with backing and/or just as long as it looks nice.

I also wanted to remind people of giving hearts, as not for extras, but a great job on meeting their swap requirements. Making the actual swap that much more. And please leave comments for your partner, they will for you and it will be appreciated by all involved.

Please let me know if you have any further comments or questions. :)

ty! ;)

I like the colors green and peach. ;)

Ok, I'm in. How do I wrap and mail this?

My color preferences... I love that mossy green, it's kind of olive-y. A little more blue in it than the old 70's green, but still more yellow than blue in it. My house has lots of fall colors... brick red, golds, brown, even a little deep purple. I love fall leaves. I love pictures that are beautiful, but maybe with a little unusual twist. And I love little bits of poetry in my paintings, too. Or words.

But honestly I could find somewhere to put anything, black and white, shades of gray, blue and green, pretty much anything except pastels. And contemporary would match, or sort of rustic Italian, even Asian...lots of different styles would fit into my house. So how about artist's choice? I will trust your judgement. Have fun!!

I'm in - I like most colors but prefer no neons or pastels, I live in a lake house, Tuscan is my decorating style if I were to put a name to it.

bluehighways 10/30/2009 #

oh, one more thing - can it be canvas board (panel) or does it need to be stretched canvas?

raindropsonwindows 11/ 1/2009 #

i love really pretty, intricate things. : ) i love daisies, leaves, poetry, verses, but really, if you have a beautiful idea, i'm sure i'll love it! i also love fun things and different styles... you know, anything with an indie flare. ; )

BayBeeLuvsThee 11/ 2/2009 #

it can be on canvas board, but it must be sturdy. wrap it so it wont get scratched or such. A box preferably would be the best mailing way, but as long as it wont bend, maybe bubble wrap in a soft envelope, all depends on the size. And just make sure your package says do not bend, fragile. :)

raindrops loves giraffes, too :)
