Date items must be sent by:September 15, 2007

Description:

Since the first journal was so popular, and since a lot of newbies wanted to join but couldn't, here's round 2! You will have 'til the end of July to sign up (enough time to get some ratings under your belt) and will have the whole month of August to write your journal. :)

For this swap, you will need to purchase or make a small journal or notebook. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, can just be a 25 cent spiral notebook.

Each day, you will write an entry on a certain theme. This entry could be a poem, a bunch of quotes, or just discuss your feelings/experiences/memories on the theme. You can draw, glue articles, make a collage, do any kind of art... but please include SOME words that are YOUR OWN in each entry. Entries should be at least a page long, but feel free to make them as long as you want!

Since some people are busy, you don't have to write on one of these themes EVERY day, but try to! It will help unleash creativity, and maybe some stress/pent-up feelings? There will be time in between the sign-up date and send date for you to miss some days... but please don't sit down and write on every single one of these themes at a time. Try to keep it to one or two a day.

Please be sure to date your entries! All entries should be handwritten, so try to keep it legible! Feel free to attach photos, stickers, articles, pictures, whatever onto the pages, or draw/paint/decorate them how you see fit... :) Your entries should have SOME words on them, though they CAN be predominantly (spelling..) art if you are that kind of person. :)

Since a lot of effort will be put into this swap, I ask for no newbies or poor ratings (4.5 or lower will be banned unless you explain yourself). I'll judge profiles as I see fit. This is INTERNATIONAL (woo!). :)

The 30 themes ARE:

  1. Life
  2. Relaxing
  3. Fear
  4. Vacations
  5. Good Books
  6. Bad Movies
  7. People You Admire/Heros
  8. Friendship
  9. Culture and Heritage
  10. Tradition
  11. Your Own Personal Love Story
  12. Miracles
  13. Music
  14. Death
  15. Legends

PisceanMama 07/ 1/2007 #

Thanks for pointing me toward this one. I'm really looking forward to journaling a bit!

firebirdgirl65 07/ 1/2007 #

This is great I will be just finishing up my other Journal Swap so I can start a new one yeah.

junemoon 07/ 1/2007 #

Candy Star -- Thanks for coming up with another. I love writing a kind of mini-essay, or rant, a day oh a theme. Only problem is I feel sorry for readers of my handwriting. Still, it's fun for me and I'll start this journal when Journl #1 is finished.

kaat 07/ 1/2007 #

can the notebook be handmade?

CandyStar 07/ 5/2007 #

From the 2nd paragraph of the description - "For this swap, you will need to purchase or make a small journal or notebook"

Handmade is fine. :)

PisceanMama 07/ 7/2007 #

Candy Star, I just noticed that there are only thirty topics, but 31 days in August. Should we ignore the last day for writing or just "open topic" it?

PostMuse 07/ 7/2007 #

If we have open topic, I am going to go with "Deadlines" :-)

CandyStar 07/ 8/2007 #

I'm a dork, I thought since there were 31 days in July, there would be 30 days in August... lah dee dah... ahem... I'm giong to steal PostMuse's idea and make #31 be "DEADLINES" dun dun dunnnn

-Jesse

secretspynik 07/ 8/2007 #

Woot! this sounds like alot of fun although a bit of work. Hopefully by then I'll have good ratings. =)

PostMuse 07/ 8/2007 #

I'm wondering if my partner will be bored to death reading the journal of a 50 year old woman. Most of the people in this swap are 20-somethings.

And I'm so pleased my idea made it to the topic list :-)

huhlaroo 07/ 8/2007 #

this is going to be so great! one question - do we have to go in order with the daily themes or can we do them according to what's going on with us each day?

i can't wait to get started!

kaylarose2 07/ 9/2007 #

hiya

this swap is so much fun and i cant wait to start, i am going away on holiday on the 30th august for a week if its ok i will be posting my journal on the 29th august but it will be fill with 31 dates of things only the 30th and 31st wil be done on the 29th if that is ok??

regards

Laura x

CandyStar 07/ 9/2007 #

Huhlaroo - You should do them in order, if you can. :) It will be a challenge to have to write about something each day, whether or not it's what's happening in the moment.

Kaylarose - There is time to mail your journal after the 31st... as I gave 15 days in September for the actual mailing. :) If you HAVE to send it beforehand, go ahead, you don't have to do one a day if it's really neccessary for you to do more than that.

-Jesse

huhlaroo 07/11/2007 #

Candy Star - gotcha, thanks! just wanted to make sure! :o) i've already found a journal and i'm just waiting to start writing in august! woohoo!

nicoleblack 07/12/2007 #

Sorry, everyone. I have to bail out AGAIN! Gah!

dawny 07/13/2007 #

Do we have to wait till August to start writing? I would like to start now as we go out of town a lot in August. Thanks Dawny

liniecat 07/15/2007 #

I'm in too, great idea. And sticking to the list will make me self disciplined...........maybe! PostMews Im 57 but have had a colourful life looking back, its nowt to do wi' age lass..........it's attitude as well! :)

CandyStar 07/17/2007 #

You don't HAVE to wait 'til August to start writing - you can start at any time as long as there is one for every day

-Jesse

secretspynik 07/26/2007 #

Just wondering, I've already started writing mine so I have extra days before sending it out, will it be okay if I skip a few days in between, I mean I will in the end cover all 31 topics, just not day after day, will that be okay? =]

mediatinker 07/31/2007 #

PostMuse, you may as well ask if you're going to be able to stand reading the naive and foolish thoughts of a 20-something? I'm sure we'll all write and receive journals that interest us in one way or another.

user1689 07/31/2007 #

I love this kind of thing! Its just what I used to really enjoy on nervousness.org back in the day.

However...

I think my rating is only 4.2 or somesuch.

I was hoping you'd let me off?

The reason I got a poor rating one time, was apparently my page didn't arrive with one of the people. I sent to all 5 partners, but only 4 received :( Unfortunately I didn't have spare page to send out again either. (It was a tip-in swap).

No worries if not, I'll just have to keep my journal for myself!!

user1689 07/31/2007 #

I've started mine already actually, with an introductory "all about me" page, and decorating the cover :)

user8496 07/31/2007 #

Hi! I would really love to do this swap, but only have one rating so far (a few more should be coming soonish). Is that too newbieish, or can I still do it anyway?

(since today's the deadline, I'm going to sign up anyway in case you don't see this message in time, but I understand if you drop me. I really will send it out though!)

Shannybo63 08/ 1/2007 #

Sweet! I walked into Borders books to waste the remaining of my lunch hr and they were having a sale on journals! I got some CUTE ones for $1 EACH! So I picked up 6. Also, they had packages of note cards with envelopes for 50% off - so I got two packs of 50 for $4.99 EACH! I TOTALLY SCORED!

thiswillbegone 08/ 1/2007 #

wheee!! We got partners. :) I can't wait to finish up (30 more days to do) and then mail it out!

lucindalynn 08/ 3/2007 #

So this is my first journal swap, and I am just curious of how much of our personal lives we reveal to our partners. It seems just a little private to me, how do we know that our partners are going to respect the contents of our journal. Don't get me wrong, its exciting, and intriguing, but my first! I have really enjoyed writing the first few entries, and it has been a good release! Any thoughts for this newbie?

thiswillbegone 08/ 4/2007 #

i've done a few journal swaps, here and on other sites. The amount of personal information you reveal is honestly whatever you're comfortable with.

I've talked about very personal things, and some non personal.

And for me, I've never shared the journals I've received with anyone.

lucindalynn 08/ 4/2007 #

Thanks Selise! I am just going to let it flow, and whatever comes out, comes out! Thanks for replying, have a great weekend!!

junemoon 08/10/2007 #

Heine, in Finland -- I am mailing your journal now. Don't know how long it will take from USA.

CandyStar 08/19/2007 #

Hahaha and just remember, if you tell them something embarassing... they'l never tell anyone you know and you don't have to talk to them ever again - just don't answer their messages hahaha

-Jesse

huhlaroo 08/28/2007 #

mine has been sent out to Ann - I had to send it a little early b/c i'm going to be gone. but it was only a couple days early - all 31 themes have been written on AND decorated!! woohoo!

thiswillbegone 08/30/2007 #

ohhh I'm almost done with my themes.. I had so much fun writing on this one!

JWJW2 08/31/2007 #

S'mores - Just wanted to let you know that your journal is going in the mail today (coming from NC...so heading all the way across to you on the other side of the US). :)

Mailed my Journal at the Post Office at 8:30 AM Sat 7/15 (Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation). I waited until the last day because I wanted my "Deadlines" entry to be dated 7/14/07!

ScarletT2344 09/16/2007 #

Correction: Substitute the 7 for a 9. Mailed Sat Sept 15th at 8:30 AM. Wanted my "Deadlines" entry to be dtd 9/14/07.
