Description:

Take one vintage or vintage look ( style, shape etc.) bottle and add your own lovely touch. Use sheet music, glitter, vintage images, buttons, pearls, pieces of jewelry, old book pages, ribbon, rub-ons, etc. Maybe add a pretty cork or stopper. Bottles must be glass and at least 3 inches tall. Then wrap it well to protect it from breakage and send it out to your partner!

This swap was inspired by Oct. Nov. Dec. 2009's Somerset Life's article "unearthing Beauty" by Tiffany Kirchner-Dixon

I have never shipped something like this international. Anyone have a possible no-fail way of sending something like this safe, without it costing an arm and a leg??? These things are too adorable. Saw this in the magazine and love this as a swap!

i would wrap in bubble wrap about 4-5 inches thick...with a larger box. i use fabric scraps for padding around the bubble wrap. anything that is light weight. but if it's in a good sturdy box, with that big bubble wrap it should be ok. or, you might put it in a piece of styrofoam that something else glass has come in. if you have something like that.

There was an article by Anna Corba in Somerset Studio in 2005 in which she altered bottles like this. Check out the link; they are on the cover: http://www.stampington.com/html/ss_mj05.html

I was so inspired by them that I made three for my guest bathroom and sent a photo to Somerset. They published the picture in the next issue's letters to the editor column! I was disappointed, though, 'cause I'd sent a very low-res, small pic via email and the resulting printout was rather pixellated. I never understood why they didn't email me asking for the full-size, hi-res picture!
