Description:

What better time is there to craft than when one is snowed in?

In honor of the blizzard that's about to hit Virginia (where I live) and much of the surrounding area, I propose a "snow crafting" swap! The challenge is thus: make or do something interesting with snow, take a picture, and e-mail it to your swap partners! A Great swap to get kids involved in!

Interesting snow angels

Creative snow creatures

Drawings or writings in the snow

Snow castles

...whatever you can think of!

I'm making the time until the swap deadline decently long so that those of us who aren't currently getting all this 2+ feet of snow have time to get snowed on. I've made it an e-mail swap since I know the post around here falls apart every time there are a few flakes! :)

NOTE: If you sign up expecting snow and it never falls, just let your partner know and e-mail or snail mail them a snow-related craft of your choice.

NOTE x2: If you're really proud of your snow craft, send it to me as well as your partner and I'll compile them all into an online gallery we can all see and enjoy!

Newbies are welcome with well filled out profiles. For all others, I'll be doing the usual sifting out of odd-looking characters. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions about this swap!

I will angel for any flakers...but please don't. :)

Fun idea! I am in VA, too, and I regretted that I didn't build a snowman/person/thing the first time around. I think we will not have snow here, but if we do, I am in!!!

there are actually books out there on the topic of snowmen, lol. I doubt they were the big seller last year but this year may bring a resurgance of interest, lol. Anyone up for a Calvin & Hobbs challenge?

I'm in Virginia. We got 10-11 inches last weekend.

Hollycm6: 1-4 inches is what WVEC-TV's Jeff Lawson said at noon. :) I was supposed to go to a crop tomorrow at Scrapbook Legacies. Just called the store, and they'll be playing it by ear.

I'm in South Jersey and we're supposed to get 12 - 18 inches. We'll see what actually shows up. Watching....

Miditron 02/ 5/2010 #

Yeah, this is basically a big excuse for me to go play in the snow. We're looking at 20-28 inches here, so I'll have plenty to work with!

I'm in VA also, Charlottesville to be exact. Expecting about 2 feet. Swap sounds like fun :-)

We're getting good snow for this sort of thing in VA. I'm off to go play in it.

Miditron 02/ 5/2010 #

Ha, I'm also in Charlottesville! It just turned to freezing rain...slightly less fun!

vascrappindiva 02/ 5/2010 #

CBS19 says it's turning back to snow, I'm too lazy to go out and check, I'm just trusting their twitter feed :-)

vascrappindiva 02/10/2010 #

I had to drop out of the swap. I've over-extended myself and I'm having trouble getting all my projects done as it is now :-(

Miditron 02/12/2010 #

Aww, that's sad, but I hope you get a chance to go out and play in the snow anyway!

pickleme 02/12/2010 #

We build fairy castles from ice - would this be okay? We fill any containers we have with water, haul them outside and build them when frozen. Last time the fairies stole one of the cars?!?

Miditron 02/13/2010 #

@pickleme - Sounds like fun - sure, that can count!

Partners are assigned! Have a great time playing in the snow, and be sure to let your partner know if you didn't get the snow you expected and want to make them a snow-themed craft instead.
