Description:

For this swap, we are going to be trying something new. You will have to do an art journal, but not your ordinary art journal. You will create 10-15 loose "pages" (thats 20-50 front and back) and attatch them together with LARGE binder rings(about 2-2.5 inches in size), so that in the end you will have a neat journal compiled of lots of layers and textures. Pages can be made of anything; paper, tags, cardboard, recycled items, leaves, plastic pieces, anything that can have holes punched through it goes! You may also add inclusions such as keys, plastic or metal pieces, ribbons, and small items onto the rings. These to not count as pages, but look nice. The pages can be any size, and made into art however you want. You can paint, collage, write poetry, list, add photos or glue in strange findings, do pen and ink work, dribble paint, make it vintagey, distress, etc, just make it interesting! Plese try new things with this, and do not do too much of one type of art in there, because there is so much you can do with these art journals. You must make it with two holes on the left side, anout 4.5 inches apart like regular notebook paper holes. The reason I would like you guys to use large binder rings, and are only doing 15 pages is because we will have future swaps where we can add into our little journals :] So as usual, you will need to have good ratings, please do not join if you are under 4.9, and please no recent ones or threes. I am giving you a while on this, feel free to start before partners are assigned, its senders choice! PM me or another officer if you would like more time. Enjoy!!

are we to decorate these (front and back) for our partner? Or leave some of it blank for them to do something in?

There will b e future page swaps for these binder ring journals, so we can collect more pages for it. As for leaving some blank for your partner to finish: we can add our own things to these journals as well on a whim. I had planned on making crayon lines next to something I drew for my partner to write on.

As for front and back, we should ask Revolutionoise.

I think that both front and backs should be done, but if on one or two pages you want to leave them to be decorated, you may as long as its not a rough surface like just white paper of just cardboard. maybe glue in a piece of plain colored paper just to give it a nice look, even for being blank :]

What size did you want the pages to be??

revolutionoise 04/ 1/2010 #

It doesntmatter as long as the holes on the 2 pages are spaced correctly.

should we write in these? i want to do a little something about myself and the pages i'm making for my partner. can i write in the journal or should i just include it in a separate letter?

mousepoo 04/11/2010 #

I think anything would be acceptable. Writing, pictures, poetry, sketches, paint. It's art.
