Description:

Together with a lot of cooperation, I am hoping we create a really random story! I will start the first line of the story and email my partner. Then (s)he will add a second line to the story and email it to their partner. Third person takes the two prior lines and adds a third and so on. I know everyone has done their job when I receive the story back. Please try to be mindful how many people sign up, so that you know if you are writing the beginning, middle or end of the story. Once I get the story back, I will hopefully be able to end it in a line or two and then I will email everyone our creation.

If less than 20 people sign up, I think we will be better off if we each write two lines.

Please be timely and once you receive the story to add your part and keep it moving. I hope this makes sense, if not please don't hesitate to ask questions.

This system doesn't guarantee that everyone will have a chance to write a line before it goes back to you, unless I'm misunderstanding the process?

ok kap397, I thought a little harder on it and I think your right. When partners are assigned, I'll go ahead and assign and order on my own and everyone will do the order thing like described before, they will send the story so far to the next on the email list and just the line to their swap partner for rating. How does that sound?

user2637 06/ 7/2010 #

Actually, if the organizer starts, the system does ensure that everyone will have a chance, and that it will end with the organizer.

It goes in a big loop, with A sending to B, B to C, etc, all the way to Z sending to A again. I've verified this on three swaps I've hosted, so I'm pretty sure it happens this way for every swap.

but L might send to A and then M sends to N and then all the way to Z sending to M... you know what I mean??

I think I understand. But @Kap397 if the person that gets it follows the sequence it should work fine. The trick is to wait until you get the e-mail and send to the next person on the list, am I understanding that right?

I haven't tried a swap like this before, but since user2637 has verified it on 3 swaps, I think we are safe to assume the big loop theory does work. I will start the story and I will end the story. I'll probably send out an email or two to check on the status, to make sure it's moving :)

@whateverschwing -- You could make it a requirement for everyone to copy you on the email they send. That way you will get it at every point along the way and know if it's held up for a long time. Just a thought. :)

if it isn't long enough it could always go round twice, maybe in reverse.

sounds fun Im jumping in:)

angeldiva 06/17/2010 #

I'm ready for storytime :D heheh

angeldiva 06/20/2010 #

Okay, I just sent the story with my addded lines on to sanzel and I hope I followed this and executed it correctly ;) Also, when the story is done will we all get a copy? This was fun and it makes me want to write even more LOL I wonder if somebody would want to organize another swap like this but have all participants write a paragraph or two!!!!! Please let me know if you do this again, I love writing!!!! :D

user2637 06/22/2010 #

@angeldiva - Thanks for the update. I think @whateverschwing is going to email the story to all of us at the end. I like the paragraph idea, or even going around twice. :)

angeldiva 06/24/2010 #

@user2637 That would be cool if it went around twice actually because then you could see the story as it has progressed partially but not all the way yet LOL hmmmm a point to ponder ;) heheh

whateverschwing 07/20/2010 #

It's only going around once as that unfortunately has been quite hard. I'm trying to get a copy of the last person to add on so I can finish it and send it out to all that participated. It appears the story will be short 3 people who signed up.
