I'm not sure that I've ever seen a linen PC, is that what they used to be made of, and from what time period would that be?

Linen postcards were printed back in the 1930s through the 1950s. They have the finish of a canvas painting. I don't know if they actually had cloth in the paper or no. They were often comic or scenic and were very popular during World War II. A whole sub-genre of postcard collecting are those who collect postcards mailed by soldiers and sailors back to their families or wives/girlfriends. I don't think Europeans ever produced linen postcards.

Thanks, great explanation. Now I wonder if I had seen any in the antique/ thrift stores I've been in lately, looking at postcards.
