Description:

For this swap we will be making 8 handmade envelopes which we will send to one partner.

The envelopes must be handmade, you need to provide your partner with some way of securely sealing the envelopes (by putting double sided sticky tape on the envelopes, by providing stickers to secure the envelope, or by providing a glue stick or some deco tape) How you secure the envelopes is up to you - as long as it will keep the contents inside the envelope.

There are some beautiful examples of handmade envelopes on flickr - have a look, there's lots of ideas to help you.

The Legalities

We will send eight envelopes to one partner, please include a card with your swap name.

This swap is international.

Newbies are welcome as long as you have 5 mailed and rated swaps under your belt, you must have a plumpsome profile too!

Extras are great but not at all necessary.

The swap is open to those with a rating of 4.8 and above.

If you don't intend to send then please don't join.

If you don't intend to send on time then please don't join.

If you don't intend to rate then please don't join.

My primary concern is the swapping experience of everyone in the swap, if I think you don't fit the bill then I won't allow you to join. If you think you have been rated unfairly then please tell me your tale and I will take it into consideration

Is there a type of glue you can put on paper that can be activated by licking it??

playkonstantine 07/ 3/2010 #

@minniemack Here is a recipe I use to put on my handmade envies http://www.skiptomylou.org/2009/08/26/how-to-make-homemade-stickers/ I hope this helps :)

Do they have to be made of paper?

Marymint 07/ 3/2010 #

Hhhhhm, no! Make your envelopes out of card, paper, leaflets, fabric, felt - whatever you like (NOT tortillas though).

I think we should embrace creativity so my advice would be to go for it!

Thx dear!

wow, playkonstantine, that looks real easy and solves the problem of sealing. Thanks for the link!

Keep an eye on this post in the forums.

There IS a product you can buy.... it is called Lick & Stick and it comes in "bingo-daubber-like" bottle. Joanns lists it online and the Paper Source.... probably available elsewhere too if you google it.

Marymint 07/10/2010 #

Yep, I have heard of that product before - never seen it in the UK though.

I don't have five swaps yet! I'm new but not a new face to sending/receiving items on the internet!

I have 3 right now completed (currently waiting for 4 people to rate as well) and I am entered into 3 other swaps as we speak!

I have a great idea for an envalope and I hope you don't mind me entering! By the time this gets going I will have over 5 swaps.

I have a filled out profile..and I add to it everyday it seems!

Please don't ban me from the swap but if you would like me to remove myself still, that's ok! Just lemme know :) I hope you let me stay xxxx

Do we have to check partner's profiles or is this a sender's choice swap? I was thinking of starting to make the envelopes already but do I need to check for likes and dislikes first or can I make what ever color/theme envies I happen to feel like making?

Marymint 07/13/2010 #

@PrunellaModularis (great name by the way) the swap is sender's choice - make whatever you feel like making! x

Marymint 07/13/2010 #

@buttonbear pm-ing you, x.

UrsaMinor 07/14/2010 #

Thank you Marymint! It's a scientific name of a bird that shares its Finnish (my mother tongue) name with my fiance (his last name). I'm hoping to become "Mrs PrunellaModularis" one day :-D

Marymint 07/15/2010 #

Ooooh - Lovely! If I get my way I shall be Mrs Rabbitt one day, I can't wait!

MommyKnows 07/18/2010 #

ok, I tried the Lick & Stick product... it works like a charm, but I wouldn't LICK it if I were you.... ACK!... just remoisten without a tongue! hehehee (maybe I'll put some flavoring in my bottle and shake it up)
