Description:

I'm combining my two loves... writing and pen pals! I know I'm not the only one out there who has these two loves so lets have a fun swap for it!

It's a pen pal swap with a twist, its a way to find a new buddy to talk about your writing with! Any and every type of writer is welcome - poetry, fiction, non-fiction, professional, hobby, and everything in between. If you enjoy writing thats all that matters. And hopefully you'll find a pen friend (or two!) who you can discuss writing with!

In your letter give a little introduction about yourself. Then talk about your writing. Some ideas include what genres/topics you enjoy writing, what you are currently working on, writing goals, how you write (longhand, computer, typewriter?), do you participate in any writing communities, have you tried to get published, want to get published, been published?

Then you include a sample of your writing for your partner (or a link to it if you have some online) and a little surprise for your partner just something small that they'd enjoy! (stickers, pen, bookmark, writing quotes, small note book ect)

Swap Details

  • You will have one writing buddy pen pal to write to.

I'm sorry I need to drop off this swap. My native language is Spanish and i can never write as good in English as it's a second language to me. I'll be watching this swap. If someone from a Spanish-speaking country joins, please post comment here and if it's all right with violettedream, I'd like to rejoin and partnered with that someone. I think it would be fairer that way'.

This is really cool. I just can't commit at this time. Thanks for the invite though

I pushed the sign up and send date back :)

@mmbrunet I'm sorry to loose you I cannot guarantee you'll be partnered with someone who spoke spanish :(

@KrizzyMama I plan to host it again so no worries.

Having problems doing too much with my writing and typing hand. Need to rest it but thanks for the invite.

watching for now, thanks for letting me know about the swap! :)

MagicNorth 08/17/2010 #

Thank you for the invitation. I do not have any samples of my writing and it would be difficult for me to prepare one before September 15th. I'll be happy to join your next swap.

Your calculations of 2 pages handwriting equals 3 typed, seems backward to me. I type and tend to use 11 point type and most handwritten letters I get would equal less than a typed page per handwritten. For myself I don't mind because I can easily write three pages to a penpal [and often do]. I'll be curious to see how this works out with people at different stages in their writing "careers", that is to say some beginners and some published old pros. However, it should be fun. Looking forward to seeing who my partners are.

violettedream 08/19/2010 #

@junemoon perhaps you are correct. I've switched it two a minimum of 2 full pages whether you type or handwrite.

Nserviam 08/24/2010 #

I think this is a great idea. Thanks!

Partners are assigned! Enjoy!!

Miss007 08/26/2010 #

If we type our letter shall we give a sample of our "thing" as handwritten or is it okey with internet page or machine written on that one too?

violettedream 08/28/2010 #

@Miss007 your sample can be computer written, handwritten or a link no matter what medium you choose to write your letter in. :)

Bucket 09/ 1/2010 #

Sad I missed this one! I'll look for it next time!

Miss007 09/ 3/2010 #

Have I missed understand this swap we all gonna write a letter like everyone that we write to our pals and then we are also gonna tell about our passion thing and give a little something so our partner knows what we are talking abour, or have i totally made my mind to think wrong is it just about your thing that we are gonna write about? not like a regular letter?

violettedream 09/ 5/2010 #

@Miss007 - your letter is a pen pal letter. with an introduction about yourself and your life and whatever else you want to include. In the letter you will also talk about your writing and why you write, what you write, where you write, how you write ect. Minimum 2 pages.

Then you also include a sample of your writing - whatever you want, however long you want.

And Include a gift to your partner

A letter and treats are en route from the U.S. to my partner. Enjoy!
