I adore words. A few gorgeous words put together beautifully makes very happy indeed.

I like to keep a record of quotes and lyrics that speak to me

Find a notebook. My favourite is the Moleskine Cahier Pocket Journal which is 3.5" x 5.5" and is just perfect for a sentence per page. It's also perfect for shipping. But you can use whatever size you like.

Now, fill this notebook with at least 30 quotes within the month I've given you. Try and use a bit of typography - that is, try different styles of writing instead of just writing the quote out as you would a shopping list. Download a few fonts and copy their style into your book. Do not just print every quote and stick it in. Decorate each quote or page as you see fit. Make it an experience for your partner.

Decorate the cover of your journal. Even if it is just with one word.

Now send it off to your partner (after taking a few photos for yourself, of course) and rate when you have received yours.

Have a look for quote / typography inspiration here or Tumblr search some quotes.

You will need to have a few time intensive swaps under your belt, and no unexplained 1s or 3s. Right of admission reserved. Since we benefit more from the creation than the receiving, I sincerely hope no one flakes.

Ooh! I conveniently have an extra of one of those moleskines sitting around!!!! This is a really nice idea, I have a lot of good ideas for it!!!

I have this owl notebook that Ive been trying to use but its lined paper! is lined paper Okay or do you want a blank notebook???

I have arthiritis in my hands and was wondering if we could type it on the computer then print out and decorate? Please PM me with your answer. I love making journals like these. Thanks!!

Thank you for your questions. Lined paper is fine, and so is squared paper. It is a completely personal choice. If you print out computer quotes or lyrics, please make sure that the rest of the page is hand-decorated so that it doesn't look like a robot did it:)

If anyone takes photos of their swap and uploads it onto Flickr or something, please leave its web address here. I'd just love to see what everyone has created.

So to clarify before I sign up...I can print out the lyrics or quotes off the computer and then hand decorate and embellish the pages themselves?

This is an awesome idea. I love words too and adore thought provoking quotes. Don't know if I have time for this swap...still thinking on it. Just wanted to let you know that it's a great idea.
