Description:

A covers CD with no less than 15 songs on it, all covers of one band/musician. For example, if the band you pick is the Beatles, you've got to have 15 covers of Beatles songs by other artists, and no repeats, meaning you can not have 2 different Beatles cover songs by the same artist.

You'll have two partners for this, and it's INTERNATIONAL since CDs aren't that expensive to send even internationally.

Rules

  1. Rating of 4.5 or better, with no more than one no send in six months. Go ahead and message me if you’ve been rated unfairly at any point or have a good reason for your lower rating or the no sends, and we’ll talk. I’m certainly open to listening.
  2. Newbies allowed, but fill out your profiles.
  3. Communication is key. If you’re going to be late with the swap, let your partner know. If your partner tells you he/she is going to be late, and keeps up the communication, give him/her a break. Sometimes things come up that just can’t be helped.

Can we include the same song covered by two different artists? And in very different ways?

msteidl 09/21/2007 #

Absolutely. If you have, say, 15 different versions of The Beatles "Yellow Submarine" by 15 different artists, have fun! I just don't want, say "Yellow Submarine" by 'Bibi Cover Band', and then "I Want to Hold Your Hand" also by "Bibi Cover Band'.

I'm done! I couldn't decide on mine between Prince, AC/DC and what I did choose, but I decided and I'm so excited! You two will see in a week :)

Oh, and I did do a couple of covers of the same song, but they're all really good covers!

If you enjoy the Beatles, check this out:

It's a running list of favorite Beatles covers. Mine is (if this counts) Dizzy Miss Lizzy by the Flying Lizards.

This may be a silly question, but is it still considered a cover if the band uses the original singer but changes the music?

I've found an awesome Massive Attack version for one of my songs, with the original singer as the vocals but the tune is different. However, I don't want to include it if no-one else considers it an appropriate cover!

Thanks!

I'm not the organizer, but that would be interesting to me. Especially in this situation where sometimes it's hard to get different songs (that is, there are tons of covers of one song, but not so many of other songs by the artist).

FleaGirl : Just use your best judgement -I've never really heard a different version of the same song by an original band, so I guess it could be a cover? That's not something that comes up very often, would be like The Eagles re-doing 'Hotel California' in opera fashion!
