Hoping the magazine and book my partner sends will be in English because that is all I can read.

dulcimer 09/12/2006 #

english for me too please and no cross stitch i dont do that but i love to knit and do papercrafts as well as jewellry :>)

StephanieRenee 09/15/2006 #

The only crafts I really do any more are, sewing, knitting, and paper crafting. I like them for ideas, so if they aren't in English that's fine, unless it's about knitting then it needs to be English so I can understand the pattern. Thank you!

True.... if the magazine is about papercrafts, any language would be fine. It is the image that is important. I also cross-stitch and imagine that any language would be fine as long as there are color images. Might be fun to have a cross-stitch book in another language and learn the names of colors in that language :)

Really hoping the book/magazine is sewing. I am in love with Japanese craft books (although I don't speak a word, I love the photos) I am a novice at knitting and crocheting so beginner level would be appreciated.

I do softy making, bagmaking, card & scrapbooking. Any language is fine with me as long as there are photos (step-by-step instruction). I love and collect japanese craft books. Please no knitting & cross stitch for me.

Thanks

Oh dear, Mushroom & Gadgets. Your comment about Japanese craft books brought me to this site, http://us.yesasia.com where I discovered lots of wonderful little books that can be had for much cheaper than Amazon.com and free shipping for orders over $30!

I would appreciate knitting pattern books & knitting magazines like Interweave Knits etc. I would love to send Japanese knitting books and patterns and sewing magazines to someone please.

I would LOVE to receive a Japanese craft book. I don't knit or cross stitch. I do like papercraft, embroidery, bags, crochet, felting, beading. Inspiring images are really great too.

Zmrzlina, i buy mine there too, io recently bought 200+ worth of books for my shop and myself :)

I am really excited about this swap, I recently moved, and where I live now, Seattle, I can buy so many more craft magazines that I could back in Iowa! I have a few ideas depending on who my partner is.

Yay Japanese craftbooks! I don't mind if they're not in English so long as they're are enough pictures/diagrams so I can figure out what to do. Most of the ones I've looked at are great. I used to a lot more knitting than sewing but I'm trying to expand/improve on my sewing skills.

Mushroom & Gadgets.... I love your shop! And the site is gorgeous.

I have been looking at lots of craft books and have bought a few Japanese books (which aren't here yet). I'm curious, though, since I haven't seen Japanese books yet. Are US books so easy to get and generic that they are not as desirable? What is it about the Japanese books that makes them so coveted?

I wish I could go back and delete my initial comment about only wanting books in English. After spending so much time following links and seeing craft books in other languages, I think I'd be thrilled to have one in my library.

I love Japanese craft books too, as long as the visual instructions are good then it doesn't matter to me if it's in English or not. This is going to be fun.

Jensenaddict 10/16/2006 #

I shipped my pal's parcel today but it may take up to 9 weeks so be prepared to wait.

Ghene 10/28/2006 #

Zmrzlina, it is so easy to find the english ones but the japanese craftbooks arent. What I personally like about them are the original designs of the crafts as well as the easy to follow instructions even if i don't understand what's written I really do understand the scratchings :)

Zmrzlina 10/29/2006 #

I bought three Japanese books, thinking I'd use one in this swap, but my partner seems to have lots already ;-) so I ended up sending something else, which I hope will be appreciated. I like the designs in the Japanese books, but I am not clever enough to follow the directions by just looking at the pictures. I am hoping that I'll meet a sweet Japanese person who will walk me through the instructions.

mine is going overseas to France But it is going surface taking quite a few weeks because i wasnt going to pay $27.00 to send it air. Sorry!!

Jensenaddict 12/ 5/2006 #

Hi dragonfly

you just gave me a rating of 1 but as I posted, I sent your magazines surface on 10/16/2006. It may take up to 2 months or even more to reach you, so please I will expect you to change the rating when you receive the magazines. One was a rather expensive Japanese one. Also, my partner still has a "not sent" ... but I sent yours and since you are also sending by surface you should be more patient.
