Description:

I admit it, I'm a bit of a fabric snob. I'd rather have a little of a nice quality fabric than a larger quantity of lesser-quality fabric. With two small children, my sewing time is limited. So, when I have the time to sew, I want it to be something that will look great and last for a long time!

For this swap, we will:

  • Send one 1/2 yard or two Fat Quarters of fabric purchased at a quilt shop. No solid fabrics. If fabric is sold by the meter where you live, a half meter or two fat quarter meters are perfectly acceptable. No one will complain about getting a little extra fabric!

  • an FQ is a fat quarter of fabric. To make an FQ, you cut a yard of fabric in half both vertically and horizontally to make 4 equal rectangles measuring approximately 18 x 22 inches (45.7 x 55.9 centimeters). A fat quarter has the same area as a regular quarter, but they have a different shape. Many quilt shops sell pre-cut FQs for $2.50-$3 US.

  • Quilt shops are the fabric stores that are usually locally-owned shops with good quality fabrics. In the US, a yard of quilt shop fabric is usually in the $8-$10 price range. This is not fabric that you purchase at Jo-ann's, Hobby Lobby, etc.

  • Include a short note in the swap and tell your partner about the quilt shop where you purchased the fabric. :-)

  • Sending on time and packaging swaps carefully are swap requirements.

To help ensure that we choose something that our partners will like, please post some ideas to guide your partner in the swap comments. This could be a color, style, pattern, or even something you would prefer not to receive (such as no novelty prints or no Civil War reproductions). This is not intended to make it very difficult for your partner to shop for you, but rather it is meant to help give them some guidance in making this a stellar swap for you.

Participant requirements:
You must have no unexplained/unresolved 1s/3s (please PM if there are extenuating circumstances). Participants will not have any overdue swaps at the time of partner assignment and must have at least 5 completed/rated Type 3 swaps (crafts/packages).

So, who is up for a Snooty Quilt Shop Fabric Swap? ;-)

This will be fun! I will love receiving anything. I'm not a huge fan of orange, though.

Ky 03/22/2011 #

I thought I was the ONLY one who didn't like orange!! It seems to be everywhere andI thought everyone but me loved it! :-) I agree....I would love to be surprised but would prefer to not get orange. Thanks!

I want to be snooty too......oh boy!, I've got the big nose for it!

I'd love some 1930's prints or some batiks....please and thank you!

SweetClementine 04/ 3/2011 #

I really enjoy 1930s reproductions. I also love fun, bright, modern prints by designers such as Amy Butler, Heather Bailey, and Anna Maria Horner (doesn't have to be these designers--just an example of my style). I also like birds, owls, gnomes, mushrooms, and other woodland creatures. Have fun shopping! :-)

Thanks for your patience in assigning partners. I am waiting to hear back from a few people before clicking "assign". If needed, I can move the send date forward by a couple days to accommodate the delay in partner assignment. :-)

Please also be sure that you have LISTED ANY PREFERENCES in the swap comments!

dmarie 04/ 3/2011 #

Sorry I did not list any preferences....I love many types...

I love anything with birds, owls, red riding hood, and/or polka dots...my dislikes tend to be neon and animal prints......but really truly I just love fabric

Juju 04/ 4/2011 #

I'd love anything with birds or civil war prints

wenot 04/ 4/2011 #

i love geometric designs, my new favourite colours are yellow, and orange but not combined in one fabric

bluehairedmary 04/ 4/2011 #

I'm sure I would like anything...right now working with a lot of pinks, reds, aquas. I love a lot of the designer stuff out there - see my profile - but I'm not too picky. "Modern" is a nice way of thinking of my likes. Thanks!

katiewoo 04/ 4/2011 #

Hello! Sorry to be late in listing my faves....thanks for your patience! I would love bird prints or red and aqua combos. Please nothing gloomy, gothic or neon!
