Description:

I found this lovely pic in one of the Somerset mags and thought it would make a nice swap for our group. Each person will have 1 partner and to that partner you will send 1 brown paper bag that has been decorated in the inspiring Somerset style. You may choose to paint, collage, stamp, stitch or otherwise decorate your bag. This is NOT for sticker slapping though. Make it something your partner will want to treasure. The bag should be roughly the size of a brown paper lunch bag.
1 common technique of Somerset is to layer texture, color, pattern. Try to think outside the "bag" a little on this...push your comfort level. No flakers...no recent 1's...no "no-sends" (I think this is pretty obvious since it's a group swap) PM me with questions.

do we fill the bag or is it mainly just the bag

I love this swap! Unfortunately I can't join this one. I would love to see it again later in the year!

Thanks for adding the pic! Good question Jules...I would just say it's mainly the bag but if you feel inspired to send extras you can. If this swap is a hit I will host again....maybe a themed bag or a bag inspired by a certain word.

I have done this where you turn the brown bag into a "journal" by folding several bags and sewing the together down the center. You can also alternate bags so the opening of each bag is on the left then the right, etc. They make great travel journals because the openings form "pockets" that you can put tickets, receipts, brochures, etc. into.

Yep, I've done lots of the lunch sack journals. Soo many decorating possibilities - and they are always a hit. Let's do a swap of them!

Can we use a smaller size, like 4X6? If not that's OKAY!!

sure....sounds good!!

That was fun! I worked hard on my creation. If it has more than one layer can we leave the inside for our partner to finish? Not enough hours in a day to dedicate to f/t crafting, tho I wish i could do it as a f/t job!
