Hi there, This is the second swap in a series of handmade cards using a specific technique. For this swap we will use the dry embossing technique. Remember finding a leaf, putting a piece of paper over it & rubbing like crazy with a crayon? Just like that, but a bit more sophisticated. @nicoch sent me the card featured above, isn't it awesome?? Her card is a perfect example of dry embossing.

Is it okay to use a Big Shot? If so, I'm in!

Can I use my Cuttlebug? I have a ton of pretty embossing folders!

Absolutely ladies, please use whatever crafting tools you have at your disposal. I can't wait to see what my partner sends!

I'd love to do this swap, but have never done a dry embossing before. Does anyone know of any good website that shows how to do it?

Beckboar, that's a great question. If you google dry embossing, a bunch of you tube videos come up. I would put a link up for you, but I don't know how@&^!##@$!! You can dry emboss as simply as laying your card stock on a scor pal & scor OR dry emboss a pattern of lines. My favorite is using embossing folders (plastic with a pattern pressed perminately into them) but you need a big kick, cuttle bug or some other machine to help you emboss the pattern into the cardstock. You can also use brass/metal plates & a stylis to "trace" the pattern into the cardstock. Let me know what you find.... Hope this helps!

beckboar - if you would like to send me your addy, I would be happy to dry emboss a couple sheets of cardstock for you and send them your way. You can then ink, embellish as you want.
