My husband and I live in a small town in Northwest Iowa. We have three cats...Becky and Almanzo live with us at home. Daisy lives at our office. She's in charge there. I like politics and am active in my local Democratic party.
I'm not religious, but I'm not anti-religion either. I'm mostly a live and let live kind of person. I do enjoy learning about different religions. When missionaries come to the door, we invite them in and listen to them. So far none have been successful at converting us though.
My favorite postcards right now are of realistic looking animals, especially wild animals. Bears, wolves, snakes, it doesn't matter. I even like creepy bug postcards, but not real bugs. Those are gross.
I also like touristy postcards, pictures of places...states, countries, towns, etc. I also like buildings, bridges, rivers. I like historical, black and white pictures too.
I very much appreciate it when my partners write a little something on the postcard. I collect postcards as much for the connection with people as for the postcard itself. I like to learn about different people's lives.
I like writing and receiving letters. I do tend to type anything longer than a postcard. I've used a computer for so long, I can't spell anything without the helpful little red lines under the mistakes. However, I don't send form letters. I don't much like those. I like to make an actual connection with a person, so I'll try to respond to something in your profile or in the letter that you wrote to me, as well as yammer on and on about my own life.
I have loved to read since I was very young.
My favorite authors are Jodi Picoult, Jennifer Chiaverini, and Octavia Butler. I still love the Little House on the Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I like the Homecoming series by Orson Scott Card.
Other books I've enjoyed are: The Secret Fan by Lisa See, Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, and The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd.
I like historical fiction, science fiction and just regular fiction fiction. I'm not as crazy about fantasy.
I like stickers and I love washi tape. I'm very liberal, especially when it comes to sticking things on my letters and envelopes. Hope that doesn't bother you too much. One sticker is good. Five stickers are better.
My favorite color is blue. I also like pink and black, black and white, and purple. I don't really dislike any color. Brown is even growing on me a little bit, especially if it's combined with pink. I love polka dots and stripes. Sometimes I even mix them.
I tend to join a bunch of postcard swaps at once, so if I don't rate you, it might be because you didn't write the name of the swap and/or your username on it, and I can't figure out who you are. Please PM me and let me know what the postcard looked like, and I'll be glad to rate.
Considering the millions of pieces of mail that the post office handles every day, I think it's pretty amazing how often things get to where they are supposed to go...especially little tiny postcards. That said, I know that they screw up once in awhile, so I will always message you if I don't get something before rating. I would appreciate if you do the same. I never mind re-sending if needed.
Don't feel like you need to add extras to my swaps. I'm not morally opposed to them or anything, but I rate based on the swap itself. I'm pretty liberal with hearts too.
