My name is Lis and I'm from Southern Rhode Island. I'm a proud mama of one adorable little girl and a Montessori middle school teacher. My long long term goal is to open a Montessori program within a public school - probably middle and high school. I also want my family to be more or less self-sufficient (in terms of electricity, food, etc).

This past year I was self-employed while home with my little one and started a company called Little Miss Izzy. Through LMI I sold handmade baby products like blankets, oils, balms etc. I'm excited at the prospect of doing some swaps as - well, to be honest, I love getting real mail - and also to do a little more creative work now that Little Miss Izzy has closed (as I'm going back to work in the fall).

I'm in the process of having a mild (for now) autoimmune disorder diagnosed and I'm taking it as a definite wake up call to change the way I live. Recently I have started reading and listening to a lot about Buddhism.

mostly folk, but anything really - Alison Krauss, Grace Potter, Chris Smithers, Ani DiFranco, Indigo Girls, bluegrass, Latin, basically you name it, I'll probably like it! I'm going to the Newport Folk Festival for the first time this year and I can't wait!

again, pretty much anything! I love reading. At the moment I mostly read young adult fiction, education research and the works of Maria Montessori - any one have any recommendations?

oooo movies.... I love the movies OK, I bet you see where this is going. I'm really open to everything and while I love my favorites, I'd also love to see,hear, read and try some new stuff too!!!
