Hello! My name is Diana. I started penpalling after the pandemic started. I've just been sending letters to friends and classmates and now I want to expand a bit. I'm 26 and I live in Las Vegas, NV. I'm a graduate student studying library and information science. I speak English and Spanish and I want to learn more languages! If you have any language learning tips I'd love to read them.
I love aesthetically pleasing graphic novels, YA, and celebrity memoirs. Snotgirl by Bryan Lee O'Malley and Leslie Hung, To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han, Our Wayward Fate by Gloria Chao, In the Country We Love Diane Guerrero, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
I mostly listen to music in English and Spanish. Some of my favorite artists/bands are Grimes, Belanova, Peirce the Veil, Bad Bunny, and Kid Cudi. I listen to all types of genres tho (including some country lol). I really like adding themed playlists to my letters!
I think most of the shows I watch are made for a female audience like Sailor Moon, Sabrina (all of them! The cartoon, the one from the 90s and the Netflix original), Criminal Minds, Cold Case, Buffy, Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl, Scream Queens, Lucifer
Jennifer's Body, To All the Boys I've Loved Before (series), Kill Bill, Superbad, Booksmart, Easy A, 10 Things I Hate About You, Call For a Good Time, Life Happens, Clueless, & Knives Out. Basically, I like coming of age movies.
I watch a lot of fashion and pen pal videos. Kristen Leo, tiffanyferg, StealTheSpotlight, maidenmanila, YO' HOMEGIRL, myonna reads, SusieJTodd, withwendy, and Mina Le
I like vintage, DIY, handmade, and cute themes (think Hello Kitty and Sailor Moon). I also really like animals (koalas, sloths, etc.). I love plants as well- think more like green leafy plants like aloe vera, song of India, and snake plants. I love basically every color but I tend to really like pink, purple (!), and lime green right now. I love receiving playlists, bookmarks, washi tape samples and stickers! I also collect postcards.
This isn't really a dislike but I just don't drink tea that much. If I do receive a tea bag then I'll just give it to my mom so it's not really a big deal. :) Please don't take it personal but I'm not interested in religious or political stuff at all.
So I work at a library and one of my tasks is creating take & make activities. In the past I've made black out poetry kits, explosion boxes, origami flowers, etc. I would really appreciate if you share simple crafts or ideas of crafts you have. Basically, what types of simple crafts kits would you want your library to have? The only constraint really is $$$
