About Me

Army wife to my prince charming. Pet parent to a chinchilla (Zelda) and a Chihauhau-Pomeranian pup named Rigby, who is a 7 and a half pound ball of energy. New(ish) mother to a gorgeous baby girl, Coraline, who was born last July. She is, of course, the love of my life, and every day is a new adventure with her. Though I'm sure it's nothing compared to once she becomes mobile! Adapting to my new role has taken some time and energy, so I've been on a swap-bot hiatus since last Spring when my pregnancy got complicated, but I'm itching to get back into the swing of things.

I'm a video gamer from NES to PS3. I have a short attention span and am easily distracted (as shown by the many crafts I will attempt). I change my life goals daily based on whatever I see as I tend to be easily influenced. For example-I want to join a roller derby (Whip It). Also, hunt snakes (Dirty Jobs). I have a degree in interior design but unfortunately I haven't put it to much use outside of our own home. Kansas isn't really the thriving design center one would expect it to be.

Favorite Books

The Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin. The Shining. Memoirs of a Geisha. Anything 'classic'. Wicked. Harry Potter. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Stephen King (I am working to own all of his books). Nicholas Sparks. Honestly absolutely anything- I LOVE reading (and my Nook, but I'm up for a good old fashioned paperback any day of the week)!

Favorite Movies

Nightmare Before Christmas. The Notebook. Repo! The Genetic Opera. Anything and everything Disney [my favorites are probably Alice (new and old), The Little Mermaid, Wall-e and James and the Giant Peach]. Juno. Battle Royale. August Rush. Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Moulin Rouge. Over the Hedge. Suicide Club. Sweeney Todd. Coraline. Letters to Juliet.

Favorite Television

Futurama. Avatar: The Last Airbender. Friends. Rocko's Modern Life. Family Guy. Kate Plus 8. Dirty Jobs. Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Miami Ink. Gilmore Girls (If I had to pick one favorite it would be GG for sure). Angry Beavers. The Oblongs. Cake Boss. Sealab 2021. House. Lost. Say Yes to the Dress. Pawn Stars. Hoarders. American Pickers.

Favorite Crafts

Knitting. ATCs. Scrapbooking. Sewing. Cross-stitch. Quilting (I'm still very much a beginner at quilting though, all squares and rectangles so far). I also like to dabble in pretty much any other craft/project-jewelry making, whimsey jars, matchboxes, homemade envelopes, stamp carving.

Favorite Music

Beatles. All-American Rejects. Great Big Sea. Beach Boys. Lady Gaga. Maroon 5. Taylor Swift. Lady Antebellum. Enrique Iglesias. Colbie Caillat. Backstreet Boys. Carrie Underwood. Avril Lavigne. Hanson. Keane. Musicals/soundtracks. Kelly Clarkson. Aerosmith. The Clarks. Michael Buble. Weird Al Yankovic.

Things I adore

  • Vintage (nothing more recent than the 60's)
  • Nerdy
  • The Steelers and the Penguins (Pittsburgh born and bred!)
  • Love songs
  • Polka dots
  • Flea markets and thrift stores
  • Sarah Palin (one day I too will live in Alaska with 5 children!)
  • Strawberry Shortcake
  • Fruity scents
  • Deco tape
  • Final Fantasy (particularly IX)
  • Anything over the top romantic and sappy
  • My husband
  • Cheesy, grammar offensive slang (like obvi and natch)
  • Care Bears
  • Wheat beer (though none of this for me for awhile now. So sad)
  • Bargain hunting
  • Kawaii anything
  • Piggy banks (I collect them)
  • Chapstick/lip gloss
  • Pokemon (the card game and video games)
  • Shoes
  • Arts and Crafts (the movement)
  • Rainbow Brite (my favorite character? Stormy of course)
  • Tim Burton
  • Ephemera
  • Coffee. Tea (especially anything unique). Diet Coke. Caffeine in general.
  • Tattoos
  • Polar bears (my absolute favorite animal-my husband even "adopted" me one through the WWF).

For swapping purposes please nothing with sugar -I'm diabetic. Fake sugar is perfectly acceptable. Unless of course I sign up for a swap or tag specifically for something with sugar in it-we all deserve a little treat once in awhile :)

Favorite Colors

Hot pink (not pale pink or any pastels). Overly bright colors (not neon). Anything vibrant and very saturated with color. "Happy" blues (think turquoise, sky blue, anything that makes you happy to look at it). Any color pair that includes brown (our wedding colors were turquoise and chocolate brown). Lime Green. Jewel tones. Almost any color that isn't grass green or orange. I love color. A lot.

Comment: I neither received a square in the mail nor a response to my message on the subject. I would be happy to change the rating from 1 to 5 if the package were re-sent.
Response: I'm sorry my package never reached you. I have sent you a message so I can reconcile this ASAP, though I see you haven't been on SB since November. Hopefully we can straighten this out :)

Comment: There was some really cute images in this that will be useful - although a number of them were stamped not so well, I know it can be tricky to get images to turn out 100% all the time, so no worries. Thank you! :)

Comment: Well, you sent me more than 25 stamped images, but you didn't leave me much of a border! I don't think I'm going to be able to do much with the images you sent me! Not only that, in the directions it says no more than 2 of the same image ... and you sent me 4 of a particular image!
Response: I'm sorry if my border measurements weren't up to your standards. Though as for sending 4 of an image-you'll notice that, as you mentioned, I sent well over the 25 images requirement because at least one of the stamps was a corner stamp, and most square items happen to have 4 corners. I, therefore, thought that 4 corner stamps would match an item with 4 corners very well :) Not counting the 2 extra corners, you still received over the requirement. You're very welcome and I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

Thank you for the RAK of postcards; it was so nice of you. You and I share the same birthday, mine is just a l a bunch of years older than yours.

Liz, Congrats on the new baby coming in July. Of course, it is not having any family closeby. I turned 34 and had my daughter 4 days later after being married for 14 yrs. No she wasn't a mistake, we wanted her very badly, my husband used to tell everyone we had to be sure we were going to stay together. Ha Ha But, thank God I had my mother because I had her premature and didn't get to do anything in the hospital with her. Check around for groups in your area>maybe even your doctor knows of some that you can get in touch with to have some one to talk to. Are you just new to Kansas? If you need help with anything feel free to email me, if I can help with anything, I would be glad to. Believe me I wasn't more patient being older. I bet I drove those doctors nuts when Leanne was first born, but that is what they are there for. Better safe then sorry. But you will be so happy you made the decision. My baby is grown now. She is 26 and lives next door in my parents homestead and I'm so thankful I have her Can't wait to see how you like my iris folding valentine. maryannr1742 [email protected]
