Description:

Do you love anything eerie and/or creepy? Do "dark" themes, monsters, aliens and ghosts appeal to you? Well, come and join this swap if the answer is yes!

For this swap you will be making an art journal with an eerie or a creepy theme to 1 partner. This is a time-consuming crafting swap, and for that reason you will have to have at least 10 type 2/3 swaps under your belt, rated. Oh, and beware if you join - you might be getting something scary in the mail!! :)

The journal:

  • Have at least 20 pages in your journal. (20 pages = 10 pieces of paper, both sides decorated). You may use the themes I have come up with and/or come up with your own themes - I do not want to limit your imagination! Do decorate the covers as well and name the journal "All Things Eerie" or individually, based on the themes you chose to have in your work.

  • You can make the journal yourself or use a store-bought notebook or alter a book and use it as a base to your own art and decorations. The only rule is that is should be at least A5 size (5.8 x 8.3 inches) but you can certainly go bigger if you want to.

  • Any technique and art/craft form you wish to apply to your journal is okay. You may draw, write stories, take photographs, paint, collage, stamp, sew... Whatever comes to your mind!

  • You do not need to be an artist to join. Having fun is the point!

  • The only mandatory page for the journal: Introduce yourself. This may very well be a fictional introduction if you wish.

  • The journal may deal with various themes that do not relate to each other but you may also have the journal to deal with one specific theme or perhaps even a story you come up with yourself.

  • This is an international swap so prepare to pay the postage. Also prepare to wait a bit for your journal to arrive.

IDEAS FOR YOUR EERIE JOURNALS:

  1. Introduction. This is the only mandatory page.

  2. My Life as a Ghost. Describe and/or decorate. What happened - why did you become a ghost? What do ghosts do?

What measurements is A5?

Mossycoat 09/12/2011 #

Good point, I just Googled it and it seems to be 5.8 x 8.3 inches.

(It's 148 x 210 mm, European standard A5)

Adding this to swap info.

Thanks!

Sorry to be questioning again but I've never done an art journal before so I want to make absolutely sure:

20 pages like how a book is numbered? (10 pieces of paper, 20 pages)

or 20 pieces of paper (40 pages?).

Thanks, I just want to make sure I do this absolutely right I'm excited to begin!

Mossycoat 09/15/2011 #

Yes, the first option is correct! 10 pieces of paper, 20 pages. But if you want, you can of course make some of the pages/themes extended - like if you feel that you want to dedicate a whole spread to some theme. As long as it is at least 20 pages all together.

Thank you!

Shadowspun 09/16/2011 #

I want to do this but I'll watch for now because I do NaNoWriMo every year and want to make sure my slate is clean to get it done by the end of October.

Mossycoat 09/20/2011 #

Shadowspun, good luck with NaNoWriMo! I have thought about doing it for three years now, but somehow I always miss the start or forget... Or maybe I am just scared of it, lol :)

Avalance 10/ 8/2011 #

Oh awesome swap, too bad it's near the end of this year when it's the most busiest time of the year XD .. hopefully this swap will repeated next year :) ??

Mossycoat 10/16/2011 #

@Avalance yeah, this is a busy time! Feel free to host something similar once the time is better to you, if you want. :) I do not think I will be hosting exactly the same swap again, but other creepy themes - for sure!!

Mossycoat 10/16/2011 #

I am VERY sorry I have had to ban some users today. I am extremely cautious with a swap like this and I automatically banned if the requirements I stated above were not met. Nothing personal against anyone!!

Mossycoat 12/ 1/2011 #

Hello everyone. It seems that many of us still have not sent out the journal (and I have not sent it myself, as I am rerouting it but need communication with both parties first).

I am very sorry that this swap turned out this way. Please please reply my PM's if you have received something from me regarding this swap. It is important now to communicate with your partners if you're late and with me if you have any problems.

If you're not replying any PM's and are not sending soon, we will have to assume you're not going to send and then reroute.

Thank you all.
