Description:

Not all of us have the time to create full art journals to swap. And a lot happens in life ... so my experience is that I can't join a swap which takes a lot of pages to create or a lot of time.

I set up this swap for everyone and those who feel the same. Beginners are welcome. This is a monthly swap, so I will think of prompts (themes) with which you are to express yourself on those art journal pages. At the end you will have enough pages to create an art journal (depending on the participation, of course).

Some conditions:

Prompt 1: Describe in one word how you entered/started this year 2012. Express this word on your art journal page.

Prompt 2: Something I did in 2011 that I certainly will do/have to do again in 2012.

Quantity: create TWO art journal pages and receive two back. 2 for 2.

Orientation: Horizontal Only!

Size of the pages: 5"x7"

Any kind of cardstock can be used (please recycle; time is financially tough, so buying is not necessary!!), but of course it is sender's choice. On art journal pages water is a normal addition to mediums, so use scrap cardstock which is sturdy enough to carry the water layers on it. Watercolor paper is very, very nice to use. Please be sure that the cardstock is of substantial weight, because these pages may eventually be bound into a journal.

Margin: leave a 1" margin on the left of the page for binding.

If you sign up for a given month but find that you cannot fulfill your obligation, please let me know as soon as possible. Life happens...swaps are supposed to be fun, and an added pressure to anyone.

Back of the page

Finish the back of each page you create, with your art or with patterned paper. State your swap-bot name, real name, the themes of the pages and the name of the swap on the back of each page. Nice is if you sum up the mediums/technique you used.

Swap requirements

Pages need to be original. No photocopies, digital images, please! Since we are binding our own pages, you can make them a bit more bulky if you wish.

Thank you's and photos

It would be nice if you post links to see photos of the pages you received!! Thank you messages and links to photos of the pages you received can be placed here under in the comment/discussion section. Love to see your creations!! Linking to your blog also may mean more visitors/views.

Express yourself

Art journal pages is a way to express yourself. But leaving pages white/gray of just slapping some paint on a page is too easy. So get it and be very, very, very creative. Keep the quality high!!

Extras

Sending extra goodies to your swap partner is not required.

Angel this swap

Depending on the number of people in the swap, it could be difficult to angel. I'll wait and see; it is my first art journal swap, so experience will tell. Let me know if you are willing to angel or if you are willing to help with some prompts.

Quality of swap

My experience is that the quality on swap-bot is decreasing. Please put a good effort in your creation. You are subscribing, so you have to come up with a good piece!! Let us keep the artistic side of swapping high!!!

This is meant to be a monthly swap, but with two or three people it would be hard to continue monthly. So keep participating and see if the motivation is there!

I would love to know what you think, so let me know: in the comment/discussion section or pm me. Did I forgot something?, please let me know:-)

Just to be clear on the size: the cut size of the page is 5" tall by 7" wide, and from that we should decorate a 5" by 6" area, leaving one inch at the left undecorated?

Thank you, Emika. You're right on the measurements. Horizontally it's to be a 7"wide page:-)

The one inch at the left MUST be decorated; it could be painted or decorated, but I would advice no embellishment as gems or large items to be added which makes binding a bit easier. Great question!
