Description:

Welcome to the second Adopt a Critter Matchbox Swap! Thanks to all who participated last time and loved it as much as I did, and for all who've requested another round of it!

For this swap we’ll be sending a little critter with it’s very own adoption certificate in a little matchbox to our lucky partner for them to adopt!

The Details...
1. Everyone makes and sends just one critter, home & adoption certificate to one partner!
2. The critter should be little (it needs to fit inside it's matchbox home), and can be store bought or handmade.
3. Make the little critter a home from a small matchbox (32ct) for it to travel/live in.
4. Now, for the fun part... You get to name the little critter & make it a small personalized adoption certificate to include:
~ It's Name
~ Birthday
~ Gender
~ Favorite Things
~ New Mommy's Name

Example critter is a handmade polymer Panda:
Name: Prissy Panda
Birthday: Feb. 9th, 2008
Gender: Female
Favorites: Bubble Gum, Sky Diving & Playing Wii.
Mommy: Nicole

Bonus... Draw a picture of the little guy on the certificate or take a little photo and glue it on.

Swap Rules:
~ No Newbies
~ Open to International Swappers
~ MUST HAVE 4.9 or Higher & 10 Hearts

I will ban questionable swappers or those who don't meet the requirements before assigning partners.
NO Flakers! This swap takes a bit of time to create a nice package for your partner, so please take your time & have fun!
Lastly, you CAN'T request a certain animal- it's a surprise and your lovely partner gets to decide what you get to adopt! :O)

What a neat idea!

I just found a picture from a former adopt a pet swap and I thought it was such a cute idea - I wished I had participated in it before! I hope you have a few of these. I can't wait to swap! Deadlines are so far away though. :(

artsyfartsy 03/22/2008 #

Yeah, it's a ways away, but several people requested a summer swap for this one because of the time commitment to make the little home and adoption certificate, and find or make the little critter. I hope you enjoy it, I didn't realize how much fun it would be the first time, everyone was way more creative than I expected!

Welcome!

@MrsMJ I feel you. I've created my pet and his home yesterday and can't wait too. It's really a supercool idea!!! :-)

I participated in the first Critter swap and it was way more fun than I expected it to be. I actually surprised myself with my creativity! I hope I can be as creative again.

Any recommendations for good source for buying empty matchboxes for these swaps? Or do you all really buy real matchboxes and empty out the matches?

JunkySweet 03/27/2008 #

i buy real ones at the dollar store they come in a pack of 6 i think and i just empty them out into a baggie and put the bag of matches in my junk drawer incase someone ever needs them, im thinking maybe for camping, lol.
also i know theres sites where you can get a template and make you own out of cardstock.

Thanks everyone for keeping the swap on the Top Swaps list all week!

artsyfartsy 04/12/2008 #

Please keep in mind, unless I know you personally, you will need the 10 heart minimum to participate, and I will ban all who don't meet the criteria come swap date. Thanks for your understanding!

Hi;
My name is Becky and I would like to participate in your critter in a box exchange. I had a 5 and 3 hearts and have not done an exchange for awhile, could you let me in this one?? I saw this swap and started looking for a tiny animal which I bought already. I will get the project done if you let me join or I will do this with my grand daughters. I want to see what someone comes up with for me. Thanks, Becky

Hi Everyone! I set the last date to sign up as the 29th because I knew it would take about 2 hours to read through almost 90 profiles and with my birthday being tomorrow, I knew I'd have to do it today!

I wanted to leave a note to those that I banned - don't be mad or offended with my choice. I am not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, but as the hostess of the swap it's my job to insure everyone involved has a good experience. Thank you for respecting my choices/decisions.

Happy Swapping!
