Description:

PLEASE NOTE: The quilt block swaps I host are meant for more experienced quilters. You will need to be at least an intermediate in your experience and skill set. Do not join unless you have the experience necessary to make these blocks. Also, read and follow instructions closely. We want to make sure all swappers get blocks that are the same size and go together so that after the swap a small quilt can be made of all the blocks.

For this swap you will have 3 partners and will send each partner 3 blocks, for a total of 9 blocks sent. You have the whole month to work on these, so don't feel rushed.

I found this tutorial though Pinterest.com. The tutorial is here: http://www.quilterscache.com/D/DepressionBlock.html the block is called a "Depression" block as it was popular in the 30's.The block is a great one for scraps.

The tutorial shows a mix of fabrics for both the light and dark parts, want to change that just to make the finished quilt "pop" more. For the light part of the block use 1 fabric. It can be a solid color or a pattern just as long as it is much lighter in comparison to the "dark" parts of the block. You can use the same light material for all the blocks you send or you can use different lights in each block.

Make sure to follow the tutorial carefully. Everyone should receive blocks that have the same pattern and measure 12-1/2 inches on each side. When the quilt is completely finished the block should be 12"

This is a great swap if you have a lot of scraps you want to get rid of. Mix up the colors, this quilt will look really nice if there's not a lot of pattern repeat. Just make sure they are 100% cotton. New fabric is best, unless your partner is ok with vintage material.Fabrics used are sender's choice but try to take your partners tastes into account.

And just to remind you.... use 1 fabric for the light part of each block.

No newbies. Must have completed at least 5 type 3 swaps and have a rating of 4.8 or better. No 1's or 3's in the last 6 months.I will check. I may make exceptions for newbies who haven't been rated yet. I will also check to see if you've done quilting swaps before. If not I may ask you to send me photo verification of your ability to quilt. Message me if you've done swaps but just haven't been rated. If you don't get anything from your partner let me know.

Whew! Four down, five to go. I wasn't so sure if I'd like this block when I just saw the tutorial graphic, but now seeing the different versions in person I'm really loving it. :-)

I am interested in your post. Your insights will serve as a wonderful resource for me to enhance my understanding of this area. Running has never been more enjoyable. Relieve stress with the game: fall guys
