Location:International
Type:Type 1: Electronic
Last day to signup/drop:February 20, 2014
Date items must be sent by:February 28, 2014
Number of swap partners:10
Description:

If you love food, love looking at pictures of deliciousness and love reading and talking about food, then this is for you.

All you have to do is:

  1. Take at least 5 photographs of food you have eaten recently. More than 5 is welcome! Do NOT pick up pictures off the internet. The photographs have to be taken by you. Although you do not need to send magazine-level photographs, please refrain from sending ones that are blurry, grainy, over exposed or too small or too big.

  2. Email these photographs with a brief 2-4 lines description about each. You can write about what the food is called, how it is prepared, its origin, if you make it, your favorite place to eat it from, why you like it etc.

  3. Email 10 partners. Only BCC!

While rating, please do NOT rate lower based on quality of photographs, eloquence with description or your personal food preferences. This swap is to give you a glimpse into another person's life, their culture and their way of living through the medium of food, so please be respectful of that. Please be prompt with your rating.

No Recent unexplained 1's or 3's. Must have a well filled out profile. Rating of 4.8 or higher. Newbie friendly.

I'll angel if required.

Since the response to this swap has been so unexpectedly good, I am thinking of making it a monthly or quarterly thing. Let's see how this one goes :)

This sounds fun!!

WPREGEL 02/ 3/2014 #

Love this idea. Wish the recipe of the photo was mandatory.

tonewadventures 02/12/2014 #

@wpregel I decided against keeping the recipe mandatory because you don't have to send pictures of only stuff you cook. It can be anything you have eaten!

rileybear 02/16/2014 #

I think this is such a unique idea! Perhaps if we are willing to share the recipes we could just say so in our email?

tonewadventures 02/18/2014 #

@rileybear That's a great idea!

tonewadventures 02/18/2014 #

Guys, we made it to the top 10. Thanks to everyone who has joined. I hope you all have a great time!

CraftilyClever 02/18/2014 #

Since it is just the click of a button--I think it would be awesome to include the whole group of participants in our e-mail, rather than a set amount of partners. I would love to see everyone's plates!

tonewadventures 02/18/2014 #

@CraftilyClever I'd love to do that, but need to make sure other participants would not mind receiving a huge amount of emails in their inbox.

Guys, Please leave a comment here to make your choice:

  1. sending to 5 partners

  2. sending to 10 partners

  3. sending to maximum number of partners SB will allow

Depending on the response, I will edit the swap description accordingly! Thanks again for participating!

I'm going to assume that we aren't all going to send our pics at the same time, so the stampede into our inboxes may not be too bad. I'd be okay with getting the maximum allowed. After all, if we don't want to see them all there is always a delete button. I'm curious to see the pics too.

While I would really love to see everyone's pictures and descriptions, I wouldn't like having to rate everyone... There are 27 people in the swap now; I think 10-15 partners would be okay. That would provide quite a bit of variety and is more manageable than leaving ratings for 26 people.

This is a great idea! Btw, may i know what is bcc mean? I use email rarely. I never swap through email and i also a newbie in swapbot too. Could anyone help? Thank you :)

tonewadventures 02/19/2014 #

@itsmehere When you are sending your email, there will be an option below or around the "To" bar that says BCC. You need to enter your partners' email addresses in this row separated by commas. BCC stands for Blind Carbon Copy and when you send BCC email, it ensures that the receiver of your email is not able to the see information of other people you have sent the same email to. Doing so protects the privacy of your swap partners.

tonewadventures 02/19/2014 #

Due to the response I received, I have changed the number of partners to 10. Happy swapping everyone!

roxswapbot 02/19/2014 #

I suggest updating the swap info: "3. Email only 5 partners. Only BCC." to the number you changed it to.

tonewadventures 02/19/2014 #

@roxswapbot thanks for bringing it to my notice, I just changed it!

CraftilyClever 02/21/2014 #

Love this swap!! I wonder if it might be helpful to remind participants to check their spam/junk folders if they are missing people?

jemmachi 02/21/2014 #

Yeah! I remembered only because you commented but be sure to check !
