One of the first blocks I ever made was a nine patch. It's a very simple and doesn't involve any fancy stitching or supplies. I'm giving detailled instructions so that new quilters have all the info they need. More experienced quilters can skip all the tutorials! You will be makig one block to swap with one partner. Please use nice fabric! if you aren't sure about how to identify good fabric here's a link to a simple set of "rules" that will help you to make sure you are using the good stuff! http://www.examiner.com/article/tips-for-buying-high-quality-quilt-fabric Blocks will be made with charm squares (5 inch pieces). You will need 5 solids squares and 4 squares of complimentary print. Two fat quarters will do the job with fabric to spare. Please feel free to post your preference of colors after you sign up. It's sender's choice but It sure would be nice if you could make your partner happyI Here's a tutorial that might help you assemble the block: http://justquilty.com/2012/05/how-to-make-a-nine-patch-quilt-block/ If you all are interested, we could do one a month and we'll all have enough to make a quilt in no time. If you receive your block on time and it meets the guidelines, you should rate your partner with a 5. If you are unhappy with the block (quality of fabric or sewing) please send me a PM so we can try and resolve before rating less than a 5. questions? please feel free to post them here or send me a message |
