This swap is for a Mini Jar of Whimsies. The jar needs to be about 5 inches tall. I don't mind if you use a large baby food jar, but I would prefer that you use a jar that is as close to 5 inches as you can get it, or a unique jar that has a cork to hold all of the goodies in it. Be creative... a good place to look for a jar is at any craft store or even a thrift store.

Here is a list of possible items that could go in your jar (Go wild and send something to knock your partner socks off):

rolled fabric squares

Embroidery FLoss

Small Birdies

Felt Shapes

Vintage thread spools

Mini Tape

Felt Letters

Small stamp pads

Binder Clips

Decorated Clothes Pins

Silk Flowers

Small Color Pencils

Spool of thread

Swap Cards

Bottle Caps

Paper Clips

Glue Dots

Glue stick

Mini Pens

Tiny Plushie

Sealed candy pieces

small measuring tape

pack of tea

die cuts

small bottle of glue

embossing powder

Atc blanks

wood shapes

small paper punches

lip gloss

key chain

flat back marbles

pom poms

skeleton Keys

handmade charm

You don't have to pick from this list but if you are having a hard time getting started this should give you some great ideas!!!

*****We are going to be doing a color theam.****

Make sure you read your partners profile and use the color/colors they like and items you think they will enjoy.

An example would be the color purple... You could put in purple hard candy, purple yarn, purple buttons, purple scrapbooking items... if they like Kawaii and pink, fill the jar with pink Kawaii stuff....or if the like black and skulls do a black skull whimsy jar. Be creative and have fun with this.

Because these jars are glass I am making this swap US and Canada only. Newbies are welcome and all I ask is that you make sure this is something you can and will do. Everyone must have a full profile... and remember it is never fun to sign up and do your part to find out you are not getting anything back.

1)Does the jar need to be glass? I have often found interesting plastic jars. They would be lighter in weight for shipping and I wouldn't worry as much about breakage in the mail. 2)Should we decorate the jar itself?

carladallas 06/17/2008 #

baby food jars are not 5 inches tall. I have a mini jar, that's 3 inches tall that would be perfect, that's about the size of a baby food jar. Would that be acceptable?

habenson 06/17/2008 #

Thank you for the questions!!! Yes I think plastic jars would be great and if you would like to decorate the jar itself that would be fine but not required. To the second question, I think the 3 inch baby food jar would be fine but I would not go any smaller then that.

carladallas 06/17/2008 #

Ok, great! I think the description could use some clarification just because baby food jars are smaller than 5 inches. Anyway, the jar I have is from honey, and is round and really cute, so I can't wait to be assigned!

habenson 06/18/2008 #

Very Cool Carladallas!!! I bet it will be supper cute!!! I will make the adjustments in the discription. Thank you for your input...

pandaface 06/24/2008 #

I think this is a great idea, I already have an appropriate-sized jar ready! I can't wait to see who my partner is :]

kerrlouise22 07/ 2/2008 #

is this an international swap? i know some are not because of postage. id love to sign up if it is!

mangopassion 07/ 2/2008 #

I've been looking around for a jar, but haven't been able to find a really cute and unique one yet. I may just have to go with a plain ol' jar. That's OK, though, I'll try to make the inside nice and delicious! :o) This is going to be a lot of fun!

habenson 07/ 3/2008 #

Hi kerrlouise22, I am sorry this one is not international. This is my first swap ever and I was not to sure how the whimsy jars would do going international. Please feel free to start your own Mini Jar of Whimsies swap for international. I have found so far that it has been very easy and fun to see how many people have signed up. Again I am very sorry that this is not open to international swapers.

I would love for this to be international too EXCEPT that postage is so high that if it had been, I would not have signed up. I hate that because so much cool stuff comes my way from across the globe and it really connects people in new ways. Oh well. I spent $39 on a small package to the UK and my blood ran cold. I just can not afford it. Maybe having both would open up to all prospects.

I would like to sign up for this fun swap!

snpyrunner 07/ 5/2008 #

This swap looks so fun! I can't wait to get assigned my partner. Whoever gets me as their partner, my favorite color is green... pretty much any green but I do love spring green. I love to quilt and make jewelry, which are perfect for filling jars! I love old buttons that I can make into jewelry, and in case you haven't read my profile, I love cats! Art supplies are wonderful as well... and I've started a collection of cat-themed pottery... hint hint. :) Of course anything I get will be absolutely delightful! THanks!

sylviasushi27 07/ 5/2008 #

this looks really fun i cant wait for my assignment. :) Do Whimsies mean just craft items? Or can it be anything? ^_^ Please let me know!

musicisbliss13 07/ 5/2008 #

neauxla 07/ 6/2008 #

whoever gets me i would love one in either baby blue and chocolate brown OR pink and lime green.

habenson 07/ 7/2008 #

The fun thing about Whimsies is they can be anything you would like to put in your jar. It can be a mix of craft stuff or a mix of stuff that you think would make a great filler like paper clips or stuff like that. Have fun with it!!!

owlsong 07/ 7/2008 #

God this would be an amazing swap to take part in, but I don't really have a high enough rating to keep people from getting nervous about me. I'll have to wait for a few rounds to go by, I suppose. :D

shipsails 07/ 7/2008 #

i signed up for this swap before realising that it's us and canada only, so had to drop out again. :( i've already found a perfect little jar though (it's robust plastic!), so if anybody would like to do an international swap then please let me know?

maryhassound 07/ 9/2008 #

how do you all plan on mailing your jars? in boxes? i'm not sure what the most efficient way to do it is.

habenson 07/ 9/2008 #

I am going to put mine in a box that just fits the jar and put shreded news paper around it. i think it will make it alright

habenson 07/22/2008 #

We seem to have a little problem... davidslilwifey is no longer a swapper with us so I need you all to look at who you were assigned to send to and receive from and if you partner, sending to or receiving from is this person, please contact me so I can set you two up as partners... I alredy know who the person is that was to send to davidslilwifey... So please if you are the person who was going to receive from this person PLEASE contact me!!! thank you

stuffbystephanie 07/25/2008 #

I guess I should have emailed this a long time ago BUT...if you get me, I love the purple/pink/orange combination...and I love greens, especially lime green. Lately, I've been into altered notebooks, ATCs, and scrapbooking...I like to make jewelry, too. However, I'm sure I'll be thrilled with whatever I get. I'm about to send out my package, now. ☺
