Reading Challenge #6 ~ Holidays

For this holiday edition, I'm adding on ONE more book, and giving 2 more weeks, since it is the holidays and more people are busy, I'm spreading it out more.

If you are on GoodReads, then you know there are TONS of challenges out there, designed to help you get reading and help you choose your next read. I'm going to have a series of challenges to get you reading and focused on certain books to read.

This is a Holiday challenge.

In this challenge, you will chose books based on the upcoming HOLIDAYS.

There are going to be a few options that you can do for this:

  • 1: You may read holiday themed books
  • 2: You may spell-out holiday themed words
  • 3: You may read books with holiday words in title

For this challenge you will need to read at least 5 (FIVE) books with one or more of the above options. These options are as follows ~

  • 1: You may read holiday themed books ~ these books are written for the holidays. They may or not say Thanksgiving or Christmas on them, but it's clear that's what they are about. The holiday has to be forefront in the theme of the book. Will accept reading HORROR as part of this option.
  • 2: You may spell-out holiday themed words ~ using authors first and/or last name or title only, you may do a "spell-it-out" of a holiday word, for example you may want to read the books to spell out "Halloween". (If you hate holidays ~ like me ~ feel free to spell out "Bah Humbug" LOL!)
  • 3: You may read books with holiday words in the TITLE ~ more specific than the first option, this one must have the holiday words in the title, such as ~ Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas.....

You may choose ANY option, reading all the books from one option (such as spell it out) or mix them up (such as reading a book about Halloween, and one with Halloween in the title).

Only books completed on or after 9/22/14 accepted.

As with all my Reading swaps, I'm no longer going to specify any certain questions you have to answer just make the swap is long, not just "I like this". Those will be left for our postcard swaps. Write at least 4 pages to tell your partner all about it, without giving details away, your thoughts and opinions on the book and anything else you can think of. That is just 1 page per book.

With multiple requests to lengthen the challenges, these will now run 2 months, plus the signup time. Hopefully this will appeal to more of you. You can start reading now.

Here are some questions to help you, if you aren't sure what to write. You can use any or none of these, as long as your swap length is the full 4 pages by hand and 2 if typed.

  • What was the book about?
  • Did you like or dislike it?
  • Who was your favorite character?
  • What was your favorite part? What was your least favorite?
  • Have you read any other books by this author?
  • Would you read any others because of this book?
  • Were there any situations or characters in the book that you identified with? How?
  • Did you like the book from the beginning or did it take you a while to get into it?
  • Would you change anything about the book?
  • Would you recommend this book to other readers?
  • What surprised you the most about the book?
  • What is the significance of the title? Would you have given the book a different title? If yes, what is your title?
  • Would you ask the author a question if you could? What would you ask?

NOTE!!! This challenge is running longer with ONE MORE BOOK THAN USUAL!!!
