Reading Challenge #8 ~ Box Titles

If you are on GoodReads, then you know there are TONS of challenges out there, designed to help you get reading and help you choose your next read. I'm going to have a series of challenges to get you reading and focused on certain books to read. I got this idea from a GR groups and one of the challenges we had to do for a quest. I'm going to change up the name of it though, and call it ~

The Box of Titles Challenge

The concept of this one is a little hard to explain, once you get it, it makes sense, the graphic I made, posted above, explains it best. Please ask any questions below.

For this challenge, you will read exactly 4 books, making a square/rectangle in which the first and last letters of the book titles make the four corners. It's simpler than it sounds but harder to do then it looks. Here's an example ~

  • T empl E
  • a ........ n
  • r ......... c
  • g ........ h
  • e......... a
  • t ......... n
  • e ......... t
  • ........... e
  • D oome D

The words do NOT have to be the same length, just the corners need to add up.

  • You MAY go easy and use all 4 letters the same, such as Enclave, Endgame, Eyes of Fire, Eve.
  • words such as the, a, and DO count. It must be full title as is.
  • please make the box on your swap, so we can see how it looks. :)

If there are any questions, please let me know. It really is easy to understand once you figure it out, but if you don't go easy, it's hard to do!

Only books completed on or after 12/27/14 accepted.

As with all my Reading swaps, I'm no longer going to specify any certain questions you have to answer just make the swap is long, not just "I like this". Those will be left for our postcard swaps. Write at least 4 pages to tell your partner all about it, without giving details away, your thoughts and opinions on the book and anything else you can think of. That is just 1 page per book.

With multiple requests to lengthen the challenges, these will now run 2 months, plus the signup time. Hopefully this will appeal to more of you. You can start reading now.

Here are some questions to help you, if you aren't sure what to write. You can use any or none of these, as long as your swap length is the full 4 pages by hand and 2 if typed.

  • What was the book about?
  • Did you like or dislike it?
  • Who was your favorite character?
  • What was your favorite part? What was your least favorite?
  • Have you read any other books by this author?
  • Would you read any others because of this book?
  • Were there any situations or characters in the book that you identified with? How?
  • Did you like the book from the beginning or did it take you a while to get into it?
  • Would you change anything about the book?
  • Would you recommend this book to other readers?
  • What surprised you the most about the book?
  • What is the significance of the title? Would you have given the book a different title? If yes, what is your title?
  • Would you ask the author a question if you could? What would you ask?
