Description:

NaNoWriMo 2014 is history. All of the words you wrote in November, whether you got to 100 words or 100,000 words during the month, need to be revised and edited.

The revision swap is about making a promise to yourself, doing something, and then later being reminded of what you said you would do.

The good folks at NaNoWriMo do not leave wrimos without resources. Go check out the Now What? page.

For this swap you'll need to do three things:

a) take the Revision Pledge.

b) Read one of the articles OR participate in a chat OR view a webinar on the Now What Months page and tell your partner what you did and what you thought of it.

c) Make a written commitment -- in the form of a contract or letter -- on the revisions/edits/additional writing you plan to do on your NaNo 2014 or any other NaNo novel between Jan. 24 (the day after the swap is initially posted) and March 6.. You must send TWO copies to your partner, one for her/him and the other in an unsealed self-addressed envelope.

The extra copy and self-addressed envelope is so your partner can send back to you after six weeks the promise you made to yourself. That's the follow-up part!

Recap:

  • Make the revision pledge on the NaNo site.

  • Read a revision article, participate in a chat or watch a webinar from the NaNo Now What? site.

  • In a note tell your partner which activity you did and what you thought of it.

  • Make a contract with yourself.

  • Send your partner the note about your revision activity and two copies of your personal revision contract, one copy should be in a self-addressed envelope. Your partner will stamp it to return to you.

special note:

For those who think they will lose their contract or their partner's (but you're all detail and deadline driven writers so that won't be a problem, right?) you can post your contract below. You still have to snail mail it! Posting below is your back-up.

Snail mail. International. Group membership.

Quick question... I rotate projects so my revision right now is actually my 2013 NaNo... may I still do this? I have to give a project a break, especially after something as intense as NaNo.

Yes, Nancy, that's fine. I'll edit to reflect any NaNo project.

A letter and revision goals have been dropped in the box for a.m. pickup out to my partner. Enjoy!
