Description:

Who doesn't like getting a surprise? This swap is simple, take a standard sized envelope and stuff it full of as many flat items as you can fit into it.

You will be sending 1 partner a minimum of 10 items, and nothing smaller than 1 inch unless it's in at least an inch sized sealed container such as a baggie. Items are senders choice. Keep in mind this is an International Swap, but do put into the envelope as much as you can and be able to seal it.

Don't include items containing liquids, easily breakable or bulky items. Keep them as flat as possible and remember they have to fit in a standard envelope.

Some ideas:

  • ATC's (yours or one's you'd like to pass on)
  • Seed Packets
  • Stickers
  • Blank Notecards
  • Scrapbook / Card making Embellishments
  • Fabric samples
  • Postcards
  • Foreign coins or paper money
  • Ribbons / Lace
  • Washi Tape samples (wrap around something it can be removed from)
  • Tea / Hot chocolate / Drink mixes (individually packaged)
  • Recipe cards
  • Address Labels
  • Bookmarks (homemade or store bought OK)
  • Magnets (flat fridge type)
  • Button style pins
  • Buttons
  • Embroidery skeins
  • Hand drawn or painted pictures
  • Greeting cards
  • Small handmade envelopes
  • Small art decorated envelopes
  • Cardstock / Decorated paper (ATC sized at least)
  • Charms
  • Beads (seal in a package)

Keep in mind the list above is ideas only, you don't have to send those items. Get creative, but only send good, clean items. Think about if it's something you'd want to receive.

Dollar store items are OK in this swap. This is sender's choice but do check profiles especially for allergy info before sending.

Also, if sending out of country, seal with packaging tape or something similar to reinforce it so the envelope doesn't come open during shipping.

What do you mean by standard size? I have 4 1/8 x 9 1/2 and I have 5 3/4 x 8 3/4. Either of those would be considered standard?

Chitcakes 02/20/2015 #

I was wondering the same thing as above. Thanks!

I should have specified that better, sorry about that - I meant a standard #10 sized envelope, or the type you'd use for mailing a letter. As for dimensions -

Standard sized #9 or #10 envelope: (source: USPS) - To be eligible for mailing at the price for letters, a piece must be:

Rectangular - At least 3-1/2 inches high x 5 inches long x 0.007 inch thick. No more than 6-1/8 inches high x 11-1/2 inches long x 1/4 inch thick.

Hope that helps!
