Description:

This is a slightly crafty journal swap for the unartsy type like me. I'll break it down into as simple steps as I can, because I'm not just bad at art, but I'm also good at writing lists.

This is a swap for a journal tailor made for you. Do you want a journal full of inspiring quotes to make you feel good? This is for you! A work out journal with challenges on some pages so you'll have a new work out? Also for you. A funny journal with humor? Still for you.

Any kind of journal your partner can come up with, just ask and they will do their best to give you something special.

Writing in a journal is proven to reduce stress and raise your expenditure on pens/pencils. An acceptable compromise, doncha think?

I'm giving plenty of time for this swap, since I know its going to be a labor intensive one. So no fear.

This is a USA only swap, but if enough people are interested in an international version, I will make one of those too.

STEP ONE: Buy an inexpensive journal. Dollar stores, craft stores, office supply stores all have journals, and you should be able to get one for less than $5. You can wait until you get a partner to buy it, or buy one that you figure anyone would like.

STEP TWO: Post on the comments of this swap what kind of journal you want (ex: "A funny journal with humor quotes" "A journal with bible quotes" "Workout log with exercise challenges") and what you DON'T want. ("I'm not religious, please nothing biblical" "I don't like stickers" "I hate scented ink or paper" "Please only decorate corners or top and bottom, I don't like writing around things in the middle of a page")

STEP THREE: When you get your partner, find their requests and make them happen. Every 10th page at least should be customized to some extent but as long as SOME pages are left entirely bare, give it your all. Maybe even roll a dice or use a random number generator to pick what pages you decorate.

Pages should be any or all of this list: decorated, a quote added, stickers or stamps used, but leave room to write on every page, limit yourself a bit. Decorate the covers, inner covers, whatever. Include a bookmark if you want, but you don't have to. And if you'd like a penpal, include a card/piece of paper with your address and a brief intro.

STEP FOUR: Send off your partner's wonderful journal. And enjoy yours. Keep in mind, your journal might not be EXACTLY what you expect, and that's okay. Someone sent you a thing they made with every intention to make you happy. So if you get a journal and it seems they tried to do what you asked, be nice.

If you can angel, please PM me.

Newbies are welcome.

How many pages should the journal be? And how many should be decorated? :)

@user2637 Ideally it should be in the 50-80 sheet range. (so 100-160 pages, since each sheet is two pages. I got the number by checking the back of a journal from Michael's Crafts) but if its more or less, that's okay. Journals vary, but it should be a journal, not a mini-notepad or something like that.

And at least every 10th page (so one out of each ten pages) but you can decorate more than that. Just make sure there's room for the user to use it too.

My Journal Request:

I'd like a pretty(feminine) journal with funny and inspiring quotes inside. I'd prefer it not be religious, but a few religious quotes would be okay if they're otherwise inspiring/funny.

I prefer hard covers to soft covered journals and would line lined paper not blank.

My journal request: I would like some good natured humor, biblical/inspiring quotes are just fine with me, workout/running challenges, I am pretty open to almost anything! My only NO'S are please nothing scented, I am very sensitive to smells and nothing profane/dark magic types of things. Thank you! :)

My journal request: I would like something with inspiring and funny quotes. Scriptures would be great. I am open to any color or design. I like lined paper to write on.

I dislike anything profane or dark.

Good humor, scripture,no scents. I think what everyone else has stated is just about what I'd like, too. Green is my favorite color, but I like bright colors, too.

And no to profane and dark for me, too.

Vintage, garden, shabby chic, quotes for inspiration, nature scenes, dainty ephemera, flowers, anything sweet and positive, things to think about and write about, I will be happy with whatever you may send. Thank you.

Firstly, if you haven't already picked out a journal, I'm kind of crazy about Field Notes sized notebooks, they fit nicely into a cover I have...handmade is always welcome.

As for content I'd like: inspirational/positive/fun (non-religious) quotes/lyrics/poems, entry level/postpartum exercises, themed playlists or random songs I should check out (rock, hard rock, indie, electronic, etc), prompts to get me thinking about how great life is, pretty much anything HAPPY.

As for decorations, I like: industrial pop, bright colors, street art, trash polka, Tim Holtz, 7 Gypsies, vintage, thrift, Maggie Holmes, etc.

Please NO: overly cute/girly/childish stickers or decorations, no baby animals, Hello Kitty, Disney, princess, etc.

I use journals as sketchbooks, so unlined pages are best for me. I love handmade books with natural fiber paper - a smaller one of these is better than a larger mass-produced one. I would love my partner to draw, paint or stamp a nature design on the front or back cover, if blank, or inside covers, and decorate only the borders of some of the pages.

I like plants, birds and muted colors. I dislike spiral bindings, brads, stickers, glued on stuff, loud colors, words, quotes and prompts. But as long as the pages are unlined, I'll be happy :)
