Description:

I dream of eating dinner off a clear surface nightly using a fabric napkin to wipe my messiness away from my hands, folding it nicely in my lap. No more paper towels wasted in the trash ... Perhaps lighting the table is a candle or two ... so in the spirit of that maybe actually happening at my house, I am suggesting a Fabric Napkin Swap just in time for the Fall and Winter holidays.

This is a swap for 6 carefully handmade fabric napkins.

You may use 6 similar fat quarters (with backside lining or not) to create your partner's napkins. You can create 6 matching napkins from the same yardage (with backside lining or not).

As these will be used and washed frequently, please be sure that you are using high quality cotton fabric for your napkins.

I am leaving 35 days / 4 weeks to create these napkins, all before the busier ending months of the year.

GUIDELINES Size: from 17″ x 17″ up to 24″ x 24″ in the shape of rectangle or square. Construction: single or double layer of fabric.
Fabrics: Let’s do cotton, please. No flannel or other fabric content. Easy care is the goal here.

Plan on finishing your napkins by washing your fabric, finishing the sewn edges, pressing the napkins and making them as attractive for your swap partner as possible.

Plan to spend about $15 on the project for your swap partner. Please check their profile for fabric designers or styles that they like!

If anyone has any color preferences, please be sure to list them below ... especially if you're planning on using these for a holiday gathering.

Since this is a swap with creative energy, time, and money involved, only participants with a 4.8 rating or higher will be allowed. No no-sends in the last 6 months. Newbies welcome with a fully completed profile - everyone needs to start somewhere. This will be United States only.

Please rate your partner accordingly. When you receive your swap, rating them is a great way to let them know you received it.

If you do not plan on sending, this is not the swap for you. Any questions, please ask!

If someone does not participate in the swap, please let me know so I can coordinate an 'angel' swapper to take their place.

Thanks for joining and lets have some fun! Happy Swapping!

I'm looking forward to this swap but have a couple of questions. First of all, aren't most fat quarters made of calico-weight cotton? To me that seems a little thin for napkins. Also, I'm a little worried about making sure my swap partner really gets something she (he?) likes. Thank you for any suggestions you can offer.
