Description:

On the eve St. Nicholas’ Day it is a wonderful tradition to fill the shoes of the children with a little present and sweets, nuts, apples and oranges.

It is in this vein you will create a pair of socks and send a few goodies for your partner to open December 6th. Plan to mail so the package arrives before December 6 but not so early as to torture your partner with the waiting.

The package should include: One pair of handmade socks, using sock yarn (fingering weight) that your partner would love. Please communicate with your partner to get info about the size of her foot: measurements, shoe size, etc. Sock pattern, yarn and colors are sender’s choice.

Please get a tracking number for mailed packages. I'm making this an international swap as the cost of shipping a pair of socks should be lower than shipping a full package.

There will be loads of time to create socks for your partner. Please pace yourself accordingly and do your best work so your partner has a nice pair to open in December. If there are any problems, please communicate with your partner and swap hostess immediately.

This is my go to easy sock pattern

This is a super swap as I seem to always be making socks for other people--rarely myself. Thanks, @knitterofhats

Excited to start! I've begun socks for this swap already. A great motivation to use some cool yarn. I figure I can't go wrong with doing the cuff and leg before I get my partner's measurements. Also, I'll enter these socks into my county's fair competition in August, should I complete them before then....double motivation!

PS....using a basic sock pattern....finger weight yarn on #2 needles....casting on 64 stiches using a ribby pattern so it is stretchy in the leg

Note: Craftygolfer has not be in contact for check-ins in August or September, despite multiple PMs, wall posts, e-mails and post cards mailed to her address. She is removed from the swap and group. Knitterofhats and SaraJaneKnits will swap with each other. A private swap has been set up to capture ratings.

I've shippped to my alternate partner @sarajaneknits for this swap: http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/230714 as @craftygolfer has not been on SB since July 8 and not responded to multiple ways and attempts to contact her about this swap. Sadly, this is the first swap in over 1000 I'm not able to mark as sent.

Marked as sent on Dec 3 to get off my queue.
