Description:

Im reviving an old swap of mine, for more Halloween fun. We all need more Halloween jewelry, don't you think?

This swap is to exchange one handmade spider gem pin with a partner. The pins themselves are made from up-cycled jewelry like old brooches or earrings, and or a few leftover beads. It does require just a bit of wirework. But I promise they are easy to make (tutorial link below), and so cute!

More deets:

*Please keep the spiders no larger than 2"-3" total in size, so they're still wearable. Smaller is okay.

*Feel free to use old pins, clip on earrings, tie tacks, cuff links -- whatever you think would work. But make sure you remove the backings or extra 'findings'. You can usually do this with wire cutters, a Dremel, or a strong pair of shears.

*Clean the jewelry first if it needs it; don't send a spider covered in schmutz! (btw, Covered In Schmutz will be the name of my next band).

*Get creative with color combos and designs. Check out your partners' profile if you'd like some inspiration, but ultimately the color, design, etc. are senders' choice. Go bananas!

Oh yeah, and:

*Newbies are welcome with a well-filled profile. Please no recent unaddressed 3s or 1s. I reserve the right to ban folks who seem sketchy, I will review all profiles before assigning the swap. Please PM me with any questions.

*Colors, size, etc. are senders choice, so you can get started now! *I'm keeping it US regional due to speed and postage. Feel free to rock an international version.

*Please rate your partner based on whether the spider is on time, clean, uses beads or jewelry materials, etc. Please don't give someone a "3" or "1" just because you don't like the color or something.

*I will angel if needed.

Spider pin tutorial

(Note this tutorial is just for the spider, not for a pin version per se, but you can glue a pin backing on the underside and then you're all set! Ignore the silliness about soldering; glue is our friend)

Thanks to Design Sponge and Instructables for the tutorials!

This sounds like so much fun, definitely count me in but I will have to watch for a few days while I complete several other swaps because I am at my maximum right now! Thanks for hosting!
