For this swap you will make one DeConstructed Art Journal (DAJ) page for one partner in the theme of “mermaid/s”. You may hand draw, hand paint, rubber stamp, use pastels, charcoal, ink, acrylic or watercolors, collage with found images, use various papers, napkins, book pages, music sheets, texture paste, stencils, thin fabric or fibers, etc. However, please do not use stickers unless they are for a small accent, high quality/3D and/or altered. Please keep the DAJ page flat/slim as possible and do not attach bulky items as these will be bound into a book.
What is a DAJ you ask?
The idea behind DeConstructed Art Journaling is to create single pages to be bound into one art journal. This cuts cost and helps prevent loss of passing on entire journals for collaborative art work.
A DAJ Page is an 8” x 8” paper base folded in half. I recommend watercolor paper, heavy cardstock, cardstock covered with scrapbook paper, a recycled file folder, or paper bag doubled up in layers. Amazon and craft stores sell tablets of watercolor and cardstock paper precut to 8” x 8” or you may cut your own. All sides are covered with your original artwork.
For more information on what a DAJ is please watch this video by Rosemary Morris:
