Description:

Are you a fan of folklore? Would you like to create (and receive) ATCs of creatures from folklore from around the world? Then welcome to the Folklore ATC series!

ATC #2 features Yลkai (AKA ๅฆ–ๆ€ช). Yokai originate from Japanese folklore. They are spirits who interact with humans in a variety of ways, from tricking them to scaring them to helping them. They take on a multitude of forms, and each is fairly unique in representing different supernatural or spiritual phenomena. Because of this, there is a wide variety to pick from for this swap! I recommend checking out the following:

I also highly recommend reading up on the Yลkai you pick and sharing some info with your partner, though this is not required (though also include the name or type on the back of the card if you have this information).

Swap rules!

  • 1 ATC to one partner

  • standard 2.5" x 3.5" size

  • ATC can be any medium, please just put in effort. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE AN ARTIST. You just have to be willing to make art. The card you receive may reflect this.

  • use a sturdy backing

  • on the back, write your name, date, and the name of the swap. Make sure you include your username somewhere in the package (on the back of the card is fine).

  • send the card in a protective sleeve -- you can buy trading card sleeves for cheap, or make one out of things like sticker cellophane, thin paper, etc

  • open to newbies with full profiles, no unexplained 1's or 3's. Message me if you have any concern. I reserve the right to remove anyone for any reason. I will angel, but please give 8 weeks after send date for your ATC to arrive! If the time is coming near and you know you're going to flake for whatever reason, honestly just let me know so I can get it done sooner.

Don't be shy to ask me anything you're unsure about. Also, feel free to leave suggestions for future subjects for the series in the comments.

Just thinking about more folklore Greek comes to mind immediately for instance Medusa, Basilisk, Pegasus, Unicorn, Cymera and so many more also Ancient Egyptian folklore and Aztec and Mayan, Scandinavian the list could go on and on each with their "gods" demons and alchemy. Thank you for delving into this interesting series.

@Chantica I have really been wanting to hit Aztec and Mayan characters! Also Anansi, so we have one from Africa. I might actually do something from Central America for my dragon...

As for the others... definitely interested in hosting these. I'm curious if differentiating between mythology and folklore would be useful, but ultimately I don't want to host so many concurrently that people feel overcommitted, so I might just start working in pantheons as the series goes on. I'd love an Anubis one, for example.

Thank you so much, you have no idea how helpful it is to get real feedback!
