Hi! Much of the SE USA is devastated by Helene. As such, I'm pushing out dates to give a chance for mail + roads to be rebuilt. I also don't want anyone who signed up before the hurricane to be stuck, not being able to drop when they don't even have power. <3 It's just more fair for everyone. This swap is USA ONLY and has 1 partner. NO 1s or non-sends in the past 6 months. Spirit Day, a day to recognise and end bullying towards LGBTQ / MOGAI people, is on Oct 17th this year. Best colours are purple or a colour that represents queer people in your country. Spread messages of kindness, offer support, or (if you feel comfortable) talk about yourself or an important queer figure. This can be a celebrity, fashion designer, even your fabulous aunt! Postcards can be store bought OR handmade. No advertisement or religious PCs, please. What is Spirit Day? In short, this is an international day to raise awareness and spread kindness, particularly towards LGBTQ/MOGAI members of society. The holiday was declared after the deaths of several teenagers in response to (significant) bullying. If you think you don't know any LGBTQ people, you probably do (or did.) It might not have come up as relevant or they may not think you would be genuinely accepting. What can do you to show true support? https://www.wincalendar.com/Spirit-Day MOGAI stands for "Marginalized Orientations, Gender Alignments, and Intersex." It is meant to be more inclusive than LGBTQIA+ and easier to remember than several letters, especially for those of us who were in the queer community when only the first 2-3 existed. Queer people aren't just "the kids" under 25, y'know? So now you know what that acronym is! It just didn't get much favour compared to the alternative. If your handwriting is large, you have any kind of mobility issues (JRA, arthritis, EDS, etc.) and you want to participate, please do not feel pressure to fit responses on a postcard. Type your message and mail it or send a card. Other users: Please do not rate down for receiving a typed response or a card. The point is to make my swaps more accessible to everyone and not leave people out. Also, if you get any kind of bigoted messages or harassment, let me know. I have a 0 tolerance stance. |
