Description:

Hi all, welcome to the open theme zine swap...

After discovering this new craft through swap-bot I am addicted! They are simple, cheap and easy to make and cost pence to mail. For this reason along with atc's they are a fab thing to trade.

Zines are tiny 8 pages books made by one sheet of paper ~ 11inch * 8.5inch. With a bit of folding and cutting this sheet of paper can turn into quite a cute booklet. This booklet can then hold information/story/drawings etc etc. To see how a zine is made either look here or here

In this swap you will be required to hand make and fill one single zine. Its senders choice as to what the subject of the zine is so go ahead and start creating. Examples of zines can be seen on flickr and also online. From what I have read/seen zines are kept very flat so no embelishments/patterned paper to be used when making your zine. Try and just keep to the one piece of paper =)

Although I have made a few of these now I dont know everything about these little books. If you have a question though post it below or contact me and I will try and get it answered.

When you recieved your zine please rate according to how the zine was made and if the pages were filled completely. Please do not rate down if the content isnt to your liking... This is a senders choice swap.

Swap requirements ~ This swap will be open to newbies as well as seasoned swappers, with a complete profile. Any seasoned swappers with a one recieved in the last four months please contact me prior to signing up. I reserve the right to ban anyone who is either been exposed as a flaker or has been placed on my block list.

So in summary ~ One completed zine to one swap partner.

Happy creating and swapping =)

Zines, that looks interesting. Any ideas on topics? I'm stumped.

Ideas would be great! give us an idea of themes you have done. Should we use printer paper or heavier cardstock?

Hi all =)

@imakebelieve ~ Zines can be turned into anything, I have seen poems in one. A story of a boy in another. So far I have made a quote book, a little colouring book, a story of a fairy and a brownie reciepe book. The topic is your choice, you could take your fave song and write the lyrics in the book and decorate, or seeing as its summer you could draw images that mean summer to you. As its senders choice you can do anything you want to =)

This is my first hosting of a zine swap so its open. However in future swaps I may lay a topic or a theme down... for now just be creative...

@Hanane ~ See above for ideas on topics/themes. I have just been using printer/copier paper. Its perfect and very strong. I dont think you could make this in cardstock because of all the folds involved. Also I dont think the book would sit 'closed' if you used something of a higher thickness. You could try I guess but if we stick to printer paper for this swap =)

Hi everyone you may have notcied that the signup date changed today (6th) to yesterday (5th). Thats because the site wasnt offering me a link to assign the partners. It is now nearing 10am here in the UK and I want to get these assigned before I go off and do my daily chores. Everyone who had signed up before midnight last night are still present in this swap =)

Happy Swapping
