Description:

What is the sound of one hand clapping? Do dogs have Buddha nature? "Without thinking of good or evil, show me your original face before your mother and father were born".--These are all examples of Zen Koan --which are thought provoking sayings that aid us in shifting our perspective from mere subjectivity to an experience of our belonging with the world.

This is a swap for those of you who practice Buddhism, as well as for those of you who work with koans, are curious about them, or for those of you with Asian themed rubber stamps that you are wishing to use! In this swap we will exchange postcards featuring one zen koan. I do not know of any sites that offer prefab koan cards (not very Zen anyhow), so you will likely need to craft the postcard yourself. Koans can be found on many sites on the web. You may feel inspired to create your own koan. Here is one site to get you started: http://www.ashidakim.com/zenkoans/zenindex.html You may of course use any source for your koan. Feel free to decorate the postcard as you see fit. I encourage you to offer a few words on your experience of the koan in your note to your partner. We will each have one partner and send one postcard out.

Please do not sign up for this swap if you do not intend to send the card. Let's keep good karma flowing by sending our cards out in a timely fashion.

Peace,

Ashley Map'ung

Ashley, I'm sorry, but I have to drop this swap. I have run into a time crunch with a big project I am involved in. I knew this would take some thought and research because I am new to Koans and it sounded challenging. However, I just don't have time to think or be challenged. How sad is that? I'll watch for this another time. JB
